Janepie33
Does anyone else have very greedy chickens that lift out their wings and turn in small circles to shield treats from the other chickens? They are like small children wanting all the sweets. Quite funny to watch though.
beach chick
mine specialise in pinching things from each other... the bluebells were always the fastest, the sussexes seemed a bit more ladylike! tho our new sussex baby, Crunchie, aged about 10 wks is a GANNET! surferdog
Yes! And they all always want the same grape...they chase each other all over the run completely the ignoring the pile of grapes in the bowl. Once the winner has swallowed it the whole thing starts again. Coco is the cleverest - she sticks her head behind the dustbath so the others can't get her grape! Egg Lou
I let mine out in garden today for first time.. my pied found herself a dried up slug and spent the next 10 mins running around shouting about it but getting chased by the other three.. why don't they just keep quiet and eat the horrid prize?? Having one hen who exhibits such daft behaviour, I can only conclude that the desire to brag can overwhelm the desire to actually enjoy the item in question. Not that there is any human parallel in trophy wives, of course.

Helly Welly
Mine love stealing treats off each other too, it's hilarious to watch. If one of the more timid girls gets it, i often help her by shooing the others away
frenchlayer
Yes mine do that too, very funny to watch. Like you say they run off and all give chase, rather than taking the goodies that are left behind. I have it sussed now when it comes to snails, I wait until I have got three and then give them one each. Otherwise Eggluntine gets them all somehow. If I only find one I trap it in an upturned plant pot! Mean I know.
superjules
Haha, my Sylvie does this, sticks her wings out to elbow the others out of the way when there's treats in the offing. Mine also run round shoting about it when they've found something tasty, I've often wondered why they don't keep it a secret and eat it surrepticiously.....like I do with chocolate!!
