Ain't Nobody Here
Following the success of our shoe rack perch, I spotted an immaculate Ikea shoe rack in a skip three doors up, so rang the bell and asked if I could have it (didn't have the nerve to "steal" it ). She was very friendly and actually dug another one out from under the stairs to give me too . They're in better condition than the one we use for our shoes - guess who's getting the "new" shoe rack and who's getting our current one for a new perch . I've got plans for a hanging perch with a step ladder . Waste not, want not . (She'd also thrown out an Ikea storage box like * this * - the bottom fell out of it. Feel like I should pinch that too but can't decide what I'd do with it .)
Egluntyne
Well done. Efficient recycling. Give her some eggs and maybe she'll offer you her wardrobe.

Helen&Lee
Waste not want not, great hunting ANH A woman came into work not long ago to place an order and mentioned they had a skip , she said they were kept awake at night by people 'skip scavaging' Helen
Stevie
I'd go back and get the storage box too.A few dabs of wood glue and panel pins would have it looking good.I honestly really like the box thingy. Great use for the shoe rack by the way!
Charlottechicken
Ooh, the box looks fab, like a bathroom bin or laundry basket. It looks paintable too Go back and get it, I'm sure you will think of a good use for it. Well done with the skip diving, round here the skips only have rubble in them (not even full bricks), sometimes garden rubbish, like broken fence panels and rotten posts, even good soil, so no point rummaging, as I don't need any of it
Gallina
I would be careful: someone in Wrexham was arrested for taking plastic chairs from a skip: http://www.eveningleader.co.uk/news/Wrexham-ecowarrior-arrested-over-39theft39.4115723.jp It's best to ask first. Egluntyne
I'm never bothered if people take stuff off my skip, i would rather someone could reuse it before it goes into landfill, but it riles me when people put stuff on it. Usually at dead of night.
Ain't Nobody Here
I was taking ES to rowing at 7.15am and saw a skip lorry taking the skip away . They must only have hired it for one day . Never mind, my mind's been turning over what I can do with the shoe racks (sad, I know ). I've already swopped mine for hers (I actually think they're almost brand new . There's not a mark on them .) There are 5 "shelves", 4 short legs and 3 long ones - I wish I had a cube run, I could build an adventure playground .
Ain't Nobody Here
The girls seem to like it . There's room to walk underneath and a handy stick to use as a step up . (I had to spend about an hour IN the run to get it right .)
