Freecycled chicken - UPDATED WITH PICTURES - P3

Recommended Posts

She looks beautiful Pengy, lucky her and lucky you. It's good she has a nice home with someone who appreciates her. Any eggs yet?

On first looks, I think she's a mix of leghorn and cochin/brahma, personally. She looks like a massive pekin, bless her!

We get animals on our freecycle - I have to admit, I thought it was against freecycle rules.

She laid an egg yesterday - I didn't post because I was going to upload a picture to go with it. It weighed 55g, so smaller than my other girls lay.

She has also done a LOT of fronting up to my other chickens - neither her nor another like to back down, there is neck puffing up and jumping up and down either side of the bars.

I think I may see some serious aggresssion when I let her out with the others but I can deal with that - its another fine issue to discuss at my hen parties!

She has to be in with them by Saturday as I need her in the big run with them during James' party in the afternoon - I can't trust the kids not to leave the side gate open and I don't think leaving her in that eglu run on the lawn would be good either - I don't want the kids bothering her.

Lovely girl Pengy, lucky you for being in the right place at the right time. :D

My Brahma's eggs are about the same size, the Cream Legbars are usually slightly smaller.

Attila the buff brahma squares up like that - she actually charges my Springer Spaniel if he goes too near.
