Cate in NZ
Hubby's in the living room on his laptop, I'm in the spare room/ study surfing the forum, and I noticed he was signed in to googlemail. Couldn't resist the opportunity to remind him of the last few months when googlechat was our principal way of keeping in touch, so I sent him a message. He replied......and now we're in adjacent rooms and communicating via internet . Just offered to make him a cuppa so I will move and chat to hm properly now, but bizarre (and a little bit shaming) to think how easy it is just to type rather than talk
Egluntyne
At least you are talking!
Laura & CTB
CTB and I did that when we first got our wireless broadband and we were in adjacent rooms! Works well if you've had a row though (I imagine)

Goosey Lucy
We have 3 phones at home and I have been known to 'ring down' to hubby if I'm snuggled up in bed and want a cup of tea
Egluntyne
I ring up to my son in the morning to get him out of bed.

chickencam
Last weekend we ran ED on her mobile,- we have a free family group thing so it didn't cost us anything- to ask her to get our breakfast - she is working off an mp3 player debt at the moment

Ziggy
OH and I sometimes chat on yahoo when he is working in the home study... i like it cause it has a different time frame, he can reply when he has a gap in his work rather than instant talking... He once sms'ed me across the table though to remind me to buy a birthday present for his nephew!!! Now that I didn't like at all and I had a right tantrum!!! Lailapet
Sophia txts me if she's run out of toilet paper as I keep a big sack of it in the outhouse. But I just shout if I need anything or their attention! Laila
Helly Welly
We have four phones which we bought expressly for being able to contact each other around the house. We can justintercom each other. Actually, we aren't lazy, it's just if i'm having a bad day and staying in bed (due to disability, i hasten to add) then i can phone OH when i want something. Unfortunately, i'm not always capable of getting out of bed. SO for us, it's invaluable. This reminds me of when we lived in Lancaster. OH had fallen asleep on the sofa but i'd gone to bed. Henry, our cat, bought in a bird and dropped it right outside the bedroom door. Trouble was, it wasn't dead It was flapping about against the door, Henry was picking it up and throwing it around and i was terrified. Didn't want to open the door so i phoned OH's mobile which i knew was near him, woke him up and got him to deal with it. Ultimately as long as you are communicating, it doesn't really matter what method you use. DD and I often use walkie-talkies, it makes a change from shouting
craftyhunnypie
erm - we do that - we are on google talk this very moment in time. My sister is online too, so we are having a 3 way conversation. Emma.x
Shirl
We don't tednd to do the instant stuff but I do email the OH reminders of things to do. If I don't email when I think about it then I forget
Sunshine
We have a phone up in the attic where my sisters go on the computer so instead of having to yell up 2 floors its easier to ring and ask them.
Guest
my DH and I both have a lap top each, we sit about 3 feet apart in the living room and send each other messages via the computer for a bit of fun, or we used to until his lap top broke! I often ring him from my mobile upstairs when I fancy a cuppa in bed too
chocchick
I email, but he doesn't always notice for a while We had a lot of fun when trying out walkie talkies for a festival My friend's baby managed to telephone my friend The baby fiddles with his wife's mobile and he got called in bed by the baby downstairs.
