Popcorn
I'd have to taste it first to offer a true opinion Laura Well - I think it looks smashing. The icing is very smooth and you can't see any joins or lumps or bumps at all. The little flowers are very pretty too, and it all colour coordinates. Looks very professional Laura. 10/10 Edited May 18, 2006 by Guest

AnnieP
I think it looks wonderful! An idea for next time might be to put it on a larger base, it somehow makes it look grander. Then you could always put a decoration at the front bottom to break up the ribbon a bit.

Hellcat
Laura you really are very clever, nothing I ice looks anything like as good as that! How about losing the ribbon next time, and having more flowers round the join of the base of the cake and the board? The ribbon is ok, but maybe an organza ribbon would look more delicate? I happen to have organza ribbons available, pm me.!
Merryn
It looks beautiful. What is the cake inside? Chocolate or fruit or sponge?
Popcorn
If it's for your friends wedding Laura, maybe some real flowers around the sides would be nice that tie in with her bouquet
Lesley
I think it looks lovely Laura - the only thing I would add is that I like to see the board covered with the icing.
Lesley-Jean
That looks really great Laura. I used to do a lot of cake decorating back when you had to use royal icing and you had to pipe your own flowers on to little pin things. I love the way you have arranged the flowers in a geometric pattern. I wouldn't have thought of that. I love the colour it would be good for male or female celebrations

The Dogmother
I am in awe of anyone who can do icing - I am totally pants at it! I stick to butter icing on sponge cakes.
The Managing Director
looks lovely Laura , is that using your lakeland tin ?? . Another nice thing to do if you are using ribbon round the sides is to get wide, wired ribbon then you can do a really effective bow . are the flowers silk ??
