chelsea
I've read this thread with disbelief, firstly the actions of the original owner, then the compassion of people on here with their offers and wishes and then to Ian and Valerie for taking in the girls. This thread gave me goosebumps.
Nuggywoo
I'm so happy it turned out like this - it's a fairy tale come true! I must admit I had tears in my eyes () at the out and out generosity and kindness shown by all on this forum.

Faye&Ant
Im sooooo pleased this has had a happy ending. I worried OH when I told him to be prepared. In hindsight it would have been a long journey for the girls down to here so really pleased they going to a loving home closer to you. I also hope your SIL doesnt get anymore pets Ian & Valerie - when you read this can you post some pics of the girls please?

Olly
Wow - Omlet forum comes up trumps again! I hope this doesn't cause a permanent family rift with your S-I-L (although to be honest, if she was mine, I'd be glad to never speak to her again!) I do love a happy ending - top marks to Ian and Valerie, and to you Laura for coming to the rescue.

Ardene5
Hello Everyone. Ian went to collect the bluebell hens this evening and drove aprox. 2 hours each way. The hens are lovely and arrived here at 9.45pm still with some daylight left, they were able to have some organic pellets, water and some grass before retiring into their new home a purple eglu with run and extension. To anyone who has suggested that they would like to help with the petrol. Both of us feel it is a very kind thought but would prefer a small donation made to the Battery Hen Welfare Trust . We will try and get photographs put on here asap once Ian has learnt how to do it. We feel that we are very lucky to have them, our 8 yr old will see them in the morning. He is very excited to see them because he was told about them before Ian (Dad) left to collect them. We are not sure what he will make of the colour or understand hens come in different colours as he has special needs! More news later. Off for a cup of tea................... MedusA
What a fantastic end to an awful story! Pheeeeew! Laura, your SIL doesn't deserve to have the privilege of owning animals! How callous and insensitive. You're a star to rescue them. It must be a huge relief to you to know they have a loving home with Ian and Valerie. Looking foreward to pics of these very lucky girlies.
