lisa33
It's just shocking. Do people really have so little respect for an animals' life!! Well I guess we know the answer to that.
SAB
I am also surprised that whoever bought the eglu did not snap up the chance of some Bluebells as they can be quite hard to come by!
Egluntyne
The lack of qualms about releasing them to their fate bothers me the most, followed by the need for a quick buck.
Boris70
Just goggled to fin out where Darlington is (UK geography is rubbish), too far away from me otherwise I'd of had them too. If the breeder won't take them back, and there isn;t anyone on here - is it worth trying the RSPCA as an interim measure? Hope they find a home soon, can't believe some people! Egg Lou
I just googled too but far too far! what a strange position to be in poor you! She obviously didn't take the researching side of preparing very seriously indeed.. I hope you find a good home soon.
redhotchick
I'm so tempted to rehome them. I'm 2 and a half hours away from Darlington though (just checked). I don't feel I have the appropriate setup to take on another two, don't really want to upset the happy equilibrium either....Still, if you are stuck and can't resolve this, PM me and I'll send you my phone number for a chat. *mummy_hen*
Oh my god - i must be honest i am completely sick to death of some peoples attitudes over chickens. People would think it appauling the idea of just letting a dog out and leaving it to it's fate....yet the 'it's just a chicken' attitude seems to be everywhere. I live 4 and a half hours away but i would rather drive all that way to collect the poor darlings than let anything nasty happen to them. Contact me if you need to. keyhole kate
I also have room and could take them just got a Cube so plenty of room but aaargh!! I am in Hertfordshire if there is any way they could get to Derby I could arrange to have them brought here but other than that! my OH would ring my neck If I set of to Darlington (thought fleetingly crossed mind ) sucker for rescueing animals 3 1 living in a +
Egluntyne
I'll mention again that if you can get them to Sheffield I can take them.

BUT I AM in North Yorkshire and so would help with a 'collection chain' or poss temp fostering until someone could meet/collect etc. Good Luck!!!!! Ain't Nobody Here
I'm as shocked and horrified as everyone else by your sil's attitude . Why on earth didn't she insist that the buyer took the hens too ? You can't contact the buyer I suppose? I really hope you find somewhere for them - you're a saint doing all this for the poor little things.
chickenanne
That's DISGRACEFUL! I'm going to make myself unpopular here, but I would have more sympathy for her wringing their necks for Sunday lunch than taking such an incredibly cowardly "if I can't see it it's not happening" appraoch as leaving them to their fate in a field. Good luck with rehoming them.
Earthchild
Hypothetically speaking, what would be the best case scenario for these two chooks? 1/ To be introduced to an already established flock 2/ To be integrated straight into a new flock of similar age 3/ To be kept as a pair on their own If it's number two, then I have a cube and 4 omlet ladies coming on Friday, if you can get them here (10 mins from A1 at Grantham) I could cancel two of my omlet ladies or add an extension to my order and keep them all. Just a thought
Helen&Lee
Aww.. Such a pity about this situation, well done you for rushing around to avert disaster! Bluebelles are on my wishlist - about a year down the line And I'm not near enough to help - I keep thinking Couperman and Couperwife must be near you... Wishing you well in your quest for a new home for these poor chooks, Helen

*mummy_hen*
Just found out there is a possibility a friend is driving past that way this week so would love to have them if that is the case!
Cinnamon
Maybe its a SIL thing - mine did something similar, although she did eventually end up giving me her Eglu to keep her unwanted hens in I would say I am suprised at this persons behaviour, but I am afraid that little suprises me about human nature these days - just saddens me instead
Laura&Sean
HiWe are looking for a couple of blue bells and would love to come to collect them, we have also pm you. best regards Ian & Valerie Ian & Valerie William & Harry Missy & Millie Dogs girls 5 ex battery hens x 2 x 1 Hello everyone just a quick post to say they are now safe with me although in my conservatory pooing on my sofas ect eating mealworms! I couldn't leave them in the cat carrier I ended up using to bring them here. I am stunned by peoples kindness and PM's and really would like to thank each and everyone of you for taking the time to reply. I am replying in particular to those of you who wish to collect them and will give them a loving forever home-I would rather have this happen than they be returned to breeder!Basically if anyone can find the time to come I will make sure I can be here for you. Sorry its such a short one but I really am rushed off my feet and still furious. I am just glad they are here now and not in the field, I know they are safe. I did ask about new eglu owner and apparantly although not sure I beleive it(coming from SIL) she is going to use it for rabbits....???!!!! Earthchild
Glad they are safely in your hands now Sorry I can't pick them up, but it looks as though there are a few who can, so they will end up in a loving home one way or the other
