kissinuk
Had ours in two weeks now, can't believe how clean they manage to keep them!!! Much much easier than the wooden ones.
Steve.
I think I'd have lost the will to live if our cube had come with wooden ones. Plastic ... brilliant ... and just like my washing up at home no need to dry 'em, just give a shake and pop 'em back from where they came from. chucknette
Hi I received my plastic roosting bars this morning and rushed out to the cube to fit them. Had to tell the girls to hang onto their eggs for a minute while I fitted them and they did oblige. They fitted perfect and went in so easy. I had a bit of a struggle with the wooden ones. Now I cant wait to clean them Steve, you sound like my OH with the washing up, only he doesnt realize that he has to put anything away
AJuff
A fabulous must have. My second pair arrived for the old eglu today . . what to do with the old wooden bars??????????
dancing cloud
Not got my plastic bars yet, but thought I'd stand the wooden ones on bricks or similar to give my little darlings something else to perch on in their yard, while I'm hard at work earning money for chicken food. AJuff
Oh that's a good idea. I'll try that! Thank you.
Purplemaniacs
As I scrubbed the eglu's wooden bars yesterday, I thought to myself a couple of weeks and I will be cleaning a cube with plastic bars New cubes do come with plastic bars as standard, don't they

Lynne
I got my plastic roosting bars for the cube a couple of weeks ago and as everyone has said they are just brilliant. The wooden ones constantly fell apart and cleaning them was a pain, so I'm delighted. However, a small word of warning, I scrubbed the bars in the lovely sunny weather at the weekend and left them out on the grass to dry. Several hours later when I remembered them, I put them back in the cube, but they had warped with the sun. They are now rather ill fitting and this morning one side of one set had dropped down into the poo tray. My own fault I know, but I didn't think anything like that would happen!! I'd speak to Omlet about that, they may have been from a faulty batch or not suitable for the blazing sunshine we had at the weekend, perhaps Omlet thought the bars would never have to be cope in such warm conditions

Olly
I'd have done the same! Do you think if you left them out again, and made sure they were on a flat surface, they might resettle? How infuriating. I am so pleased mine came last week - as I removed the wooden ones, they fell apart in my hands. Not very good for something that was only delivered in March, and it wasn't just the staples - the cross-pieces had broken as well. They're starting my collection of firewood! ChirpyChirpyCheepCheep
Hello Lynne I got plastic bars when our eglu was delivered. Thanks for the warning, I shall take care when drying them out in the sun.
muzzie
I have the plastic bars in place I don't think that the girls have noticed the differance. As they were pricey I will use the 3 sets of wooden bars in the other eglu until they fall apart I have used screws at all the intersections of the bars. How are the plastic bars in winter I wonder do they get brittle I would hate to have them break and will they be to cold for the girls to sit on when we have temps below freezing? Maybe I will need to use the wooden ones in winter.
Steve.
Here's a question. My cube - less than a month old - the bars do not sit well on the cube and have to rest on the removable poo trays. Should the roosting bars be wide enough to sit on the left, right and center supports of the cube all at the same time? My trays aren't warped, and the cube was put together by the Omlet man. sandyhas3chucks
Someone mention spraying the wooden bars with something called "plasticoat" I think it was.. then you have morew spares & even easier yard perches to clean!
Scottie
I noticed when my plastic bars arrived that the ones at the front hang fairly precariously on the sides and if not careful, then rest in the poo trays. It doesn't seem to matter which ones are at the front (nearest the door). So far they've been okay. I was a bit disappointed in the fit as they were quite expensive. Slats
someone asked what to do with the old wooden bars, well we put 3 bamboo canes through the cube run (about half way up) and then put the wooden bars on top of them (slots in if you have it the right way) and then cable tied it. Going to make a set of cross bars out of wood so it is easier to get it all out for cleaning. We then used a couple of branches from a tree in the garden that needed cutting back so they could get up to it. Within 5 minutes of finishing we had paxo taking a look. Will try to do pics when I have finished the new cross bars
TAJ
I only bought plastic bars to show at hen parties - I have never used them and now well over a month old - I am still happy with my two wooden sets. Tracy
bronze
I'm still quietly being miffed as I've thought all along plastic bars would be so much better but can't afford to buy any so will have to carry on with my horrible falling apart wooden ones that I have to fix on a regular basis and are a nightmare to clean. It seems unfair that the plastic ones come as standard now with no price difference but thats just me being bitter.
