Troy
Don't be fooled by that lovely face Couperwife...I've seen her licking her chops...! Shes a Cyprus Poodle that we saved whilst on holiday. She was half dead and starving when we found her. Covered in a thick layer of knots and fleas galore!!! Never seen anything like it before. Anyway, we couldnt leave her behind and had to 'teach her English when she came over! Tess [/img]

superjules
Fabulous, I'm dead jealous, what a lovely garden. Maybe if I spent less time on here and more time in the garden mine could look like that too!! You have a lovely selection of girls, your lavender pekin is particularly gorgeous. Sorry to hear about your beautiful wyandotte, what a shame, she was absolutely stunning.
Troy
Lilly was the one with scaly leg and deformed toes that we only discovered after she came home. Well peed off with the breeder and returning her to 'wring her neck' was not an option! Anyway Superjules, you know frank at Thornes...he helped me so much (and with Gwen later and we had her right after a few weeks. She is now perching with no discomfort and very pleased with her new feet! Anyway I need Lilly...she keeps the hybrids in their place! Thank you all for your lovely comments...I just had to share our chicken story with other chicken mad folk. Troy
dodomydodo
What a beautiful hen house, though 'hen house' hardly seems to do it justice! May I ask where you got your Pekins from? I've having a problem with three hens that might actually be boys and it would be nice to know of somewhere reputable to buy some replacements. Many thanks Sarah
mollymo
I want to come back as a chicken and move there Troy. What a fantastic set up love the puppy too.
superjules
Troy, I'm glad Frank helped poor Lilly's feet. He's completely nuts about chooks, especially pekins, and I can't ever recommend Thorne's highly enough to people. I know they're not the cheapest place to buy supplies from, but the amount of help and advice I've had from them, I think it's worth paying that little bit extra to support a wonderful local business. Find me an internet company that will empty your chook's sour crop free of charge!

Guest
I love the picture of the cube in various locations in the garden. It reminds me of that teddy that was taken around the world and had its picture taken at famous places - hmm there's a marketing idea for Omlet - and Eglu at the South Pole, or on top of Everest. Or a Cube at the Picasso museum (cubist - get it?) or on the Tate and Lyle roundabout in Bury St Edmunds (sugar cube!) Oh this could be a whole new thread.... Anyone got Photoshop? The run, chooks, cats and dogs are lovely too!

moomin
When we got our run from Aviaries4U (very modest compared to yours tho!!), I remember Tony mentioning that he had an order for a hexagonal one! Yours must be it. I thought 'wow I bet that will be great', and it is!! I love your set up, and garden. Hope you spend many happy times with your chooks

Troy
Sarah The Pekins and Miniatures are from The Hen house. A guy called Stephen. He is due to have a large selection of various breeds and colours in Sep/Oct. I see you're in Cambridge so not far really. He is in Eye in Suffolk. Do check your girls if you ever decide to buy from him. He has a wonderful collection of purebreeds and hes a fair man but I do think that new birds shouldnt be sold with nits and scaly leg mites! We had to treat all the birds because of Lilly and it was really disheartening to disinfect a brand new run and cube!!
Snowy
What a fabulous run Troy! Well done - you have a good eye for what will look good in a garden as well as being practical! Gorgeous girls as well - love those fluffy little pekin bundles!
