lisa33
This film really doesn't appeal to me. Rhapsody, Can I come round yours while everyone's watchin it?

jlo
I have been to see Mamma Mia today. I have some sympathy with Rhaspsody as I am first off the dance floor if that pants Abba medley comes on at a "do!" However, I did enjoy the film. It was my birthday today. Not a significant one but enough that I am feeling quite old, ugly and a bit down. OH went off to work, kids didn't get up till 11 so spent a substantial amount of time with the chooks but even that didn't cheer me up completely. Went to see the film with the kids and came out feeling a lot better. The singing in it is not brilliant but that actually added to the fun. Abba songs are ones that we all know, like it or not, and I for one couldn't help singing along. (Much to the embarrasment of DD but I keep telling her that it is my job to humiliate her! )
dancing cloud
jlo - hope the birthday got better I know that getting old feeling ... Annie - love the avatar. Don't we all just know somebody we'd like to do that to (or is it just me? ) I got dragged off to see Mamma Mia last night (with very little warning, and it was chucking it down, and I wanted to stay home with my chooks and cats, grouch, grouch) and thoroughly enjoyed it. It may have helped that the cinema had a bar with decently chilled white wine, but it was a real feel-good film. One of those for watching on a wet Sunday afternoon in winter . Even as not much of an Abba or chick-flick fan, I'd recommend it

clootie
I took my daughter to see it a few weeks ago and whilst I admit to laughing out loud in places, tapping the foot and singing along in parts, the cheesiness of Pierce Brosnan made me cringe with embarrassment. Sorry Pierce fans. He has openly admitted that he found the singing painful (join the club) as - he can't sing - but surely they could have cast an actor better suited for the part? Don't get me wrong, I like Mr Brosnan but I feel he was the wrong choice for this film. Meryl Streep was outstanding as was Julie Walters and the young girl playing Meryl's daughter was also fabulous. I would give it a 6/10. Sorry folks!! Ain't Nobody Here
I've had no real desire to see it either, but a group of friends are going (for the second time ) next week and have persuaded me it's really good so I'm going too. I'll report back!
Cate in NZ
I've still not been to see it, keep meaning to but then something else gets in the way and it's the same old story . I'm resigned to waiting for the DVD now, then I can watch it at home, whilst doing the ironing no doubt and can sing and dance along to my heart's content without embarrassing myself
surferdog
Saw it last week and it's fab. Loved it, loved it, loved it! You will have a great time.
Cinnamon
Back Well, I enjoyed it - a perfectly reasonable way to spend a couple of rainy hours I think all the cast accquited themselves well - especially Colin Firth who showed us a more fun side to him,for a change. He had always semed a bit uptight to me before this.Nice wet shirt moment too! I liked Pierce Brosnan too - PHWOOOOOOR! And I will tell you something else, the cinema was nearly empty, but EVERYONE came out singing!
Mutrix Farmers
Fabulous film! I thought it made a refreshing change to use actors who don't normally sing, bit more like real life as very few of us sing like Pavarotti or Lesley Garrett but most of us like to exercise the vocal chords occasionally! I thought the weakest link was Colin Firth rather than Pierce B.
