hils78
What a fantastic Peep of Chickens (sorry just been looking at my collective nouns poster lol). Made me think of my late Silkie Slayer. How old are they and how many eggs are you getting?

Bondinho
They all said thanks for the kind comments! The black and white one is a Silver Appenzeller - you can also get them in gold and black which I wish I'd got as well. When the 2 silkies and pekin aren't broody I tend to get 3 eggs a day on average. The poland lays every day except the odd one, appenzeller 5/6 out of 7 days and the other 3 lay about 4 out of 7 I reckon - but all 3 are currently broody for the 3rd time this "summer"! I've just left them to it this time and just make sure they eat and drink a bit each day. The poland is about 2 years old and the rest are all about a year old now I think. They are an entertaining little bunch I have to admit, certainly brighten up the garden
Egluntyne
Stunning pictures, but they are so big they go off the page. Any chance you could make them a bit smaller? (I've resized them - Kate)

Daphne
lovely girls - what's the appenzeller like characterwise - is she flighty would you say? Also, has your poland had a haircut? None of ours sport quite so much eye! Lovely bunch altogether.
cluckbok
What a lovely assortment you have there. I particulary love the black silkie. Their hairdos are sooo coool! They look like lots of fun.

Bondinho
lovely girls - what's the appenzeller like characterwise - is she flighty would you say? Also, has your poland had a haircut? None of ours sport quite so much eye! Lovely bunch altogether. With regards to the appenzeller she isn't flighty at all which isn't what I was expecting from reading about them on the web - my pekin is actually more of a flyer! Spotty Dotty is actually very friendly - always the 1st one to come running out of the cube up to my patio door to see what I'm bringing even if the weather is full on torrential rain The others sit under shelter to see what I've got before getting their big fat fluffy bums into gear I kind of adopted her as well, I bought them all (except the poland) from Wernlas but the appenzeller was for my sister to go with 2 leghorns she was picking up on the same day. But we gave it a couple of weeks and they just kept bullying her and she wouldn't come out of the house. So one night she was brought to mine and I put her in with my motley crew and she crawled straight under Helga's (gold silkie) wing and went to sleep - and they've all been best buddies since The least tame one of them all is the poland, and I think she probably just isn't a well bred example as I got her at a year old from someone selling up and her hair was always quite short and has never really grown more than what is in the photos Again, I didn't expect it as all photos I've ever seen of polands they have crazy hair and can barely see!
