Janty
Well, we seem to have gone celebrity mad lately so son (Kop Boy) has asked me to ask if there are any Omleteers out there with famous relations. He would do it himself but internet is sadly banned for him until he completes his history homework. The only reason that he wants to post this is because we are third cousins to the McGanns and son is totally impressed with the fact that he is related to Dr. Who. I might also point out my rather unfortunate claim to celebrity relation fame. On my Mum's side of the family, I am related to William Henry Pratt. William Henry Pratt aka Boris Karloff
theherd123
According to my dad, who has yet to finish the family tree we could be related to Max Beesley!
Janty
That's impressive.
theherd123
If it turns out that way he would be a VERY distant relative and not someone we would have round for brew & a biscuit!
Janty
We're the same with Dr. Who!

dancing cloud
As far as I know I have absolutely no famous relatives whatsoever , which is probably an achievement in its own right! But if any of you have any rich famous relatives going spare, I'm available for adoption ...
chickencam
My Mum always wondered if she was related to Sir Isaac Newton because her grandmother's maiden name was Newton and they came from the same area, but when she did some family tree research a few years ago it proved not to be the case. Tina C
Janty one of your distant relations lives a couple of doors away from OH's brother's old pub (keep up everyone). But don't ask me which one - and yes he did use it as his local. Not that far away from you - you could go and introduce yourselves No famous relations here, although my brother was on Opportunity Knocks many years ago. Also appeared on TOTP. Oh, but my uncle (not blood relation so don't think this counts) is a cousin of Richard Thompson. Some of you may know who he is. What would be really is if a celebrity could step forward and admit they frequent this forum Especially if it was one mentioned in a previous thread
AnnieP
What would be really is if a celebrity could step forward and admit they frequent this forum Especially if it was one mentioned in a previous thread OK, I admit it, I am Anthony Womble Thompson

Ain't Nobody Here
I have no famous relatives whatsoever but a very close friend is related to Albert Hammond who wrote The Air that I Breathe (the Hollies hit). He was married to her husband's sister and is a complete *&%$£ #@ apparently . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZMA5oRzMj0
Steph101
I sat next to Lenny Henry's sister at school. That's as good as it gets, i'm afraid. Pretty sure we're not related... I'm not black for a start.

Cate in NZ
I've no celebrity relatives that I'm aware of, but my sister regularly mixes with the rich and famous . She showed me the numbers stored in her mobile phone once...I know people who'd pay good money for some of those contacts. Sorry I didn't see Sean Bean, David Seaman or Johnny Depp in there I'm afraid
Guest
As a wedding present for my grandmother, my grandfather researched her family tree, and eventually discovered that she (therefor I!) was a direct descendant of Rob Roy.
MedusA
No famous relatives that I am aware of.........but possibly might have had Roy Castle as my Dad, if my Mum had married him. They dated when he was a young man in the RAF and allegedly he was besotted with her. She dumped him for someone else, because he was too clingy. To think I could have been a Record Breaker. When I was at school I worked weekends in a Little Chef. That bloke from Mungo Jerry ("In the Summertime"), the one with the huge sideburns, said I had great legs. DD briefly dated a star of a long-running TV series.
BeckyBoo
My Dad is second or third cousin twice removed or something equally obscure to the lady who played the housekeeper in All Creatures Great and Small but I think that's about it. Had loads of encounters with famous people tho, stood on Peter Davidsons dog outside Smiths in Weybridge as previously stated, spoke to Steve Strange (from Visage - Fade to Grey) on a radio chat show, chased Midge Ure down Chiswick High Street when he was on his Harley (I wasn't a stalker, honest ) Once gave Kerri Packer a lift in my works van, took him about 3/4 of a mile and he bunged £150 on the passenger seat when he got out! Bearing in mind that was probably 20 years ago, I was fairly chuffed (once I'd asked half a dozen people who he was as I had no idea ) But my Dad has the best "encounter" - he got to chat to the Queen when he got his MBE Mrs B

little chickadee
No-one famous around here I'm afraid. Infact the only person I knew with a famous relation was my church minister years ago. His cousin was the drummer in Police.

Seagazer
Well according to a distant relative via Genes Reunited we are related to a notorious member of The Hawkhurst Gang, unfortunately Had a day out at Hastings recently and took YS to Smugglers Cave and there was a bit on the gang. I can read quite a bit faster than YS and was quite shocked by what I read. He insisted on saying very loudly "Oh Mum look we're related to them aren't we?" That was a ground swallowing moment if ever there was one. I think I said, "well I've got to research it further darling. I'm not sure" I'm rather hoping the distant relative has got it wrong. YS thinks its great though
Egluntyne
I thought Lily Langtry was Edward VII's mistress.
laurmurf
well i don't know if he counts as 'famous' but OH had an archaeology programme on BBC2 a few years ago called 'Time Flyers': he was the flying scotsman. He was chuffed to bits when the beeb contacted asking him to sign an official photo for a fan who requested it: turned out it was our niece!
