What are the best things you've "won" on Freecycle

Recommended Posts

I had a total result this week - I got a smashing jam pan from freecycle, she chose me becasue I kept chickens and she saw the link in my signature then went and read my blog. I was literally trying to buy one online about an hour before this one was offered and she had loads of people wanting it so I felt very lucky.

My other top freecycle was of course Clara - my lovely little chicken (favorelle cross of some sort we think!). I also look on her as "resuced" as she was not only unwanted because she was "too big" but they were keeping her on her own where she wasn't very happy.

I've also had loads of little things, a nice glass garden table, throws, a cracking penguin picture and a couple of compost bins.

What are the best things you've "won"??

Oooooh, we've had loads of things (OH thinks I'm a kleptomaniac  ) we got a very nice coffee table, it was immaculate and really transformed our living room (funny how some things do that) until this morning when smallest boy gouged the top with a biro - very very cross with him

My other best was a full set of blue le creuset pans in their original hanging rack (offered lemon curd and eggs as an exchange, probably not ethical but it worked  )

I also got some stepping stones for the garden, some plant pots and loads of fruit and veg which has been brilliant as I've made so much jam and pickle and I've given a jar or two to everyone who's given me stuff which made me really feel like I wan't free loading it (it would have rotted or gone to waste and I don't do waste :D )

I've had a set of bunk beds for middle daughters room, a three seater and two seater sofa and chair, dining room chairs, gos, the more I list it the more I  think I sound like such a cheapskate :oops: Trouble is we're always broke, everything in the house is second hand and with three young (ish) children there are always spills and stains and marks so having new stuff isn't practical (am I convincing myself yet?!)

I love Freecycle, I'm sure somewhere there's a "barter" site which I would love as well.

Freecycle is a great way to get rid of things. I've recently had a clear out of the loft (still loads more to go though - and then there's the shed!!)

I've won a few things on there - a fondue set (brand new) which the kids love, but I've only used once, pots and plants, childrens wellie boots etc.

I do get irritated though as I have in the past put loads of items on there, people reply saying how interested they are in the items, you give contact details, then never hear from them again, even when you send them reminders - so rude! :x

Oh Mrs Bertie - if you think you're bad, I got my husband's 50th Birthday present off freecycle (and he doesn't even know it :shh: ).

I knew how much he wanted a bread machine but I couldn't afford such an expensive present (even for a birthday with a '0' at the end!). I put a call out on Freecycle and got a new one offered to me straight away! :D

Before i'm condemned outright I have probably provided most of York's youth with football boots and wellies over the years (as well as wetsuits, walking boots, baby and children's clothes, primary school uniform.....)

I won a "Schnauzer" who I rehomed to a lady whose other dog had died and she had been looking for a companion to her other dog for 3 years. She also only chose me as I had dogs of my own and I made the effort to go round and see her. we remained friends :)

I have also had 14 baby ferrets from there; a grandfather clock and lots of baby stuff!

I must say I have given away tonnes of stuff.... And will again when I have a autumn clear out....

I have also had a free-cycle car from a online friend of mine- who coincidentally had Shiba inu's.... and I had a Shiba offered to me when she was looking so that helped him find a home :) We bacame friends through free-cycle.

People are always asking me to rehome pets for them... I have lots of friends who do rescue and it's never a problem....

But you do get some real odd- balls and I had my big stolen after leaving my gate open for a free-cycler to collect...

I seem to give more than I win, however I have won two ikea show racks, a play kitchen and food plus other toys for the nursery where I work we have it in the wendy house outside now which is fantastic.

posted a wanted add for a ceramic hen and got one, but was chipped so is now replaced with a painted one my parents bought me, and also posted a wanted add for a composter and got offered one of those too.
