karlotta
Well my 5 Pekin girls are here! They are totally gorgeous and I PROMISE i'll take lots of pics to share tomorrow! They are a little shy (except when Jolene the Blue Frizzle sized up to my huge Mendlesham Blue girl through the run bars! My Newfy girls were a little over excited about seeing them, so I think it's back to on-lead around the run! I thought they'd be nice and calm, like they are with the big girls, but I think the adorable scuttly movement is too much to resist! karlotta
Well here they are!! (If you'll excuse the terrible pics and the scary pink cast the shade throws over the photos!) Dolly Jolene Mabel Maggie Noelle They've been a bit braver today, I'm concious not to give them too many treats to start with, but i figure it's important to get them to like me! mostin
So cute, I think Jolene looks quite the trend setter with her pink and grey feathers , it's obviously going to be this seasons key look.

karlotta
They really are very funny! I'm so used to my big girls galloping about that these little darlings seem quite lazy by comparison! Much more sedate with their scratching and pecking the ground and they love having a kip in the run!
moomin
They are very beautiful Are you planing to keep them seperate or get them integrated with the big girls? Im planning to get some Pekins next year to go with my big cochin & barnvelder so was just wondering...
Scramble
Aw! Adorable I love them soooo much!!! How old are they? so sweet x
karlotta
Are you planing to keep them seperate or get them integrated with the big girls? I'm not sure at the moment! I can hardly imagine then together at the moment - they are so teeny compared! I've had the big girls free ranging around them and they seem quite brave! I suspect once I start free ranging them it'll become more obvious if it's going to work! Jolene has sprung into life this afternoon, telling all the other little girls off... she definately wants to be top teeny chook! I was told they are all over 18 weeks but i don't really have a point of reference! They all seem happy munching on the layers mash though! I am considering a bag of growers, but i guess to leave them on that too long is as bad as too early onto layers... i assume it's all about getting ready to lay.. Mabel has quite a weeny comb but is quite red... Noelle is the littlest, but i think the Frizzles look bigger than her because of the sticky out feathers! Is it wrong that now I'm eyeing up Brahmas online??! I think i'm totally addicted!
moomin
Go for it!! We're all addicted on here! Brahmas are lovely big giants, mostly gentle I believe. Now my cochin has got bigger I am sure she has Brahma in her as her neck is too long for a cochin! There are a few on here who have big chooks and teeny chooks living together, as long as you take the intros VERY slowly I think it can work! karlotta
Oh I love frizzles - were they hard to find??? Pretty easy, but considering I could only find one place that had Pekins AT ALL within about 40 miles, i guess not so easy!

My Pekin chicks have been free ranging w ith all the big girls from a few days old, now at 10 weeks they have started to go up cube ladder and get in bed with the others a night (snuggled up to mum who left them a month ago and is broody again!!) I leave them together at night but move in the morning if staying in run as no where to get away from big girls but leave if weekends as run door open all day. I think by 16 weeks they will all be together 24hrs but have grown with the biggies, would leave till 20 weeks if not.. so as above if you do it slowly it should be fine! Janty
I love my brahmas and cochins and they mix with the pekins really well. Intros had to be very slow though. I had a few problems at first.
