chickencam
I have just put a lovely casserole in the oven and it smells fantastic definately one of the compensations of winter It is Delia's beef in designer beer from her winter book with some added carrot and swede which are a must in a beef stew for me. We are not going to eat it until lunchtime tomorrow when my Grandad and Uncle are coming over, don't know if i can wait that long We are having salmon curry this evening and I haven't had curry in ages so was looking forward to this until the nice smells started what are everyone elses favourite winter warmers? Omletina Kyckling
Ooooh, I'm with you on the stew....I love beef stew, but I cook mine in red wine with nice steaming dumplings on top! I have a Rayburn which is on all the time in the depths of winter, on a low setting, so it's great for cooking stews...can't wait!
Mrs Frugal
Stew and dumplings is my all time favourite winter comfort food and we had our first one of the year last night. Steamed syrup sponge is another favourite .

chickencam
I'm really sorry to say this, but, salmon curry There's just something about fish and curry that's just not right for me. I know what you mean but actually it works really well so long as you don't overcook it. I was very good stew was cooked by 3.35 so out of the oven it came to cool for tomorrow and we had the curry and it was lovely. Tesco have Youngs wild salmon fillets about 7 pieces on offer half price at the moment, all I did was partly defrost them in water then skinned them and cut them into chunks then put them in the sauce for last 5 minutes
Cinnamon
I love cooking casseroles & one of the very nicest is a Beef in beer with big flat mushrooms one that I do. Another favourite is Nigellas Greek Lamb Stew, which is absolutely gorgeous..............I am cooking it this weekend in fct,now its officially autumn I generally cook a casserole once a week this time of year, having it either with fluffy herb dumplings or lashing of mash
