Seagazer
Not long after my dear old dog Sally died, I was thinking about her whilst sitting in the kitchen. I started to get upset when suddenly I felt very calm and then the cat flap went open (out towards the garden). She used to spend her time with her head stuck out of the cat flap looking at the garden. There was no wind (especially not inside ) to lift the flap open. I believe it was Sally telling me that she was okay and at peace.
Seagazer
Ooh another one....I went to view a house a few years ago with my mum. It was a pretty delapidated old mansiony housey kind of place. The cellars were all sealed off with iron bars which seemed odd so we couldn't go down there but we looked around...it was pretty grotty all in all, but when we went to the attic rooms, it was very odd....there was a long corridor with doors off it, with lots of small rooms with doors with small windows in them and you couldn't really see in them, they were very dark....at the end of the corridor was a rooflight....I walked to the end and suddenly had the most overwhelming feeling of something quite awful and evil and dark and nasty....I can't explain it, but I just had to get out....I moved pretty quickly (for me!) down this corridor, past mum, muttering "I've got to get out of here" and could hear my mum running behind shouting "wait for me!!" - in hindsight it was quite funny, but unnerving at the time! I told work colleagues about it the next day, and they said "You went to look a the old asylum? They used to lock them up in the attics"......NOW they tell me!! Needless to say, we didn't buy it!! I had such a strong image of you running down the corridor - sorry I shouldn't laugh
Guest
we MUST have a ghost in this house because crockery gets broken, things go missing, stains appear on sofas, burn marks on carpets etc etc In fact, over the years we've had so many unexplained mishaps... There's only me and DH living here and I know it's not me and he swears blind that "it wasn't me!!!" ( )
Omletina Kyckling
I had such a strong image of you running down the corridor - sorry I shouldn't laugh Trust me, it is NOT a pretty sight!! My mum still brings it up...."Remember that time you abandoned me in the haunted attic?"........

jlo
I've never had any experience at all but my mum (very straight and not prone to dramatics) knows that my dad was with her for some time after he passed away. Before she came to live with us she was getting ready to play golf the following day. She would talk to herself and said, "I wonder what the weather is going to do tomorrow?" At that moment the television turned on and it was the weather forecast. She watched it and said, "thanks John. If that was you, you can turn it off now." and the tv switched off. There were a few other instances like that. Soon after she came to live with us, he came to her at night (in a very realistic dream) and told her that she would be ok and that he was going. She has had no experiences since then.
little chickadee
I havn't read throught the thread yet as my eyes are tired after reading the premonitions thread but I thought I'd share about my daughter seeing a ghost. She was 2 and we were at my Grandparents house. She had never met my uncle Brian as he died about 3 years before she was born, and to my knowledge had only ever seen one photo of him (pulling a funny face with a paper hat on on Christmas day) She didnt' know that he had never left home and had still lived with his parents (in the house we were in) until he died in his 50's. She pointed over to the corner and said "There's uncle Brian" Luckily my Grandmother didn't hear as I think she would have freaked out but my goodness it gave me goosebumps. There were no photos anywhere of him so nothing prompted mentioning his name.
cammy73
We have a ghost in the house too, when we moved in the house had been empty for a while, there was no lampshades up at all, one night i went upstairs and there was a lampshade inthe room...I checked with OH and he hadn't put it up...it was one that had been in the house And on a few occasions the dog and the cat will look up the stairs as if looking at someone, and also watch the front door...which isn't used... Also one morning I was woken up to a piano being played it was being played beautifully!! I checked with the neighbours and no one has a piano!! I always say hello when I sense they are around.... Mrs Webmuppet
When I was about 7 we moved into a run down bungalow. We set about doing it up and one day Dad chopped down a manky old tree in the garden..........it was the start of quite a few years of strange happenings in and around the house. At night it was quite common to hear the sound of finger nails running down the windows, the lights would go on and off, objects would move on their own and on one occasion my Mums big heavy lamp lifted off the table flew accross the room and smashed against the wall. All the clocks became very unreliable and I had to wear my watch in bed as it became the only reliable method of knowing the time. My bed room would be very tidy when I went to bed and when I woke in the morning it would look like an explosion took place (somehow I would sleep through this), on one occasion I did see an old lady, dressed in a sensible tweed two piece stood in the door way. One of our elderly neighbours confirmed that this was the old lady who had lived in our house previously and that the manky old tree had been her favourite tree
..lay a little egg for me
My bed room would be very tidy when I went to bed and when I woke in the morning it would look like an explosion took place this is what my son claims too: Me: "have you tidied your bedroom?" Son: "Yes, Mum" yet in the morning the poltergeist appears to have been or could it be son is not being completely truthful?
Mrs Webmuppet
It definately wasn't me being messy as I was hardly ever in my bedroom and I was a very tidy child (it wasn't worth incurring the wrath of my mother by either being in the house or being messy). When I was at home I was either out walking the dog, gardening or looking after a neighbours horse, when I was in my bedroom I was up to my ears in homework. Valkyrie
What a great thread, I have been laughing out loud and then another story gives me prickles all up my back and over my head! I have never actually seen anything but I have felt very uneasy in places. My grandmothers house wasn't exactly old, she had it when it was new. I used to sit on the stairs - never liked being in the hallway, back room and worst of all the bathroom upstairs. I always kept my eyes shut whenever I was in there and I felt someone was behind me so I tried not to look in the mirror while washing my hands and then running back down the stairs. I still felt that way when I was in my 20's and wanted my mum to come in with me and I did the same thing - eyes closed and only peeking through my eyelids. Since chatting with my uncles this week I found out that they had the same feelings when they were young, and the youngest one still doesn't like the house - apparently a clock "fell" down from the mantlepiece and landed the opposite side of the room! He hates anything scary and runs away, once he hid under his bed and screamed when he felt breath on his face - it was his dog who was also scared! He went to a medium and was told he had "the gift", well he didn't want it, but he did try faith healing at one time. He tested it out on one of his brothers who had a bad knee and he was also extremely sceptical. Apparently although his little brother didn't touch him, he felt a lot of heat, almost burning sensation and it eased the pain a bit. I think he must have a lot of electrical energy - there must be a logical explanation for it. The same happened with an aunt's arm - the heat was almost unbearable apparently. Our last house was nice, but I always felt there was someone on the landing. Once I was having a nice bath, OH was out for the evening, so I got in leaned back and closed my eyes as I sunk down into the bubbles when someone whispered my name quite loudly in my ear - I thought OH had sneaked up while the tap was running and I hadn't spotted him - I jumped up intending to splash him - "Ooops, word censored!"ody there! Didn't like that one bit - and I hadn't gone to sleep I had only just turned the tap off and laid back and it was a man's voice. When my son came along and we were cleaning his teeth one night we both looked around behind us at the same time, so this little kiddiwinks felt it too! My house at present is fine - none of those feelings at all. After chatting with my brother yesterday I found he had a similar thing happen to him, but when he was stationed in the MOD Police quarters in Cambridge. At Maiden Castle I went to a part on the south side and although it was a lovely warm day I had that same tingling in my back which went to the top of my head and it felt as though my hair was standing on end, most uncomfortable and it only stopped when I walked a few paces back. I wonder if there was some electrical energy/static that I was picking up - I do tend to have a surplus of electricity and often zapped the children when I kissed them goodbye for school (ahh, those days so long ago). So I try to wear natural fibres as much as possible otherwise I could light up Heathrow! Another awful place was an old house, either National Trust or English Heritage, in the Midlands. It had a dungeon and I felt quite bad inside the door and had to dash out - really horrible. It's quite a long time ago, but I gather there were French prisoners held there - another one where I shut my eyes! My aunt tried to take photo's of my nan's funeral but the camera wouldn't work - it had been fine before, and it worked when she got home. Nan didn't want photo's obviously! When each of my grandparents died we always saw a deer in the most peculiar places - where they had never been before, so I had been rather miffed when my dad went and I hadn't seen any. The day before the funeral there was a little one in our neighbours front garden! I called mum to say "dad's home, but the twit has got the wrong house" (or words to that effect). I just managed to get a blurry photo as it dashed away with our stupid neighbours running after it. Was it coincidence because that makes 4 deer for 4 deaths (another grandfather died long before I was born)? OH's cousin has an old cottage and they have "Pete the Polt" who puts things in cupboards where they don't belong - like car keys in with the linen! Although I haven't "felt" anything peculiar there, they also have a long corridor where I like to turn the lights on - just in case!
Seagazer
Something has been happening in the house for the last two mornings. In the upstairs bathroom we have some scales. The last two mornings after I have had a bath or cleaned my teeth I have left the bathroom all tidy. When I go back in after I've gone to school with Jack the scales have been put in the middle of the floor. I've just asked Jack if he has been using the scales and he said no. I wonder if our ghost is trying to tell me something or is upset because I've been 'talking' about him. This is the bathroom (which we had added when we extended) where the taps often turn on. Ooh I think I might be getting a bit worried....

chooklady
I've enjoyed reading these posts, I wondered what I was going to do this evening! I've had 2 experiences during my life. The first was when I was fairly young, about 8 I think. I was at my grandmother's house sitting at the dining table drawing as usual and out of the corner of my eye I could see a cat sitting in the chair under the window, it was a tabby and it was washing itself and curled round on the seat. But when I looked directly at it it disappeared and then again as I looked slightly to one side I could see it again and then it sort of dissolved into thin air. I asked my grandma if she had a tabby cat and she said that many years ago she did and his favourite place was the chair under the window. The second was when I was 27, OH and I had just got married and had bought a flat. It was a new one and we moved in while there was building still going on. When I stood at the kitchen sink I used to see this shape outside, again not when I looked directly but it was most definately there, it was dark and quite spooky looking. The flats had been built on the site of a very old monastry and they found tombs, and skeletons and allsorts, I think my ghost was a monk, that's what it looked like to me anyway, I saw him 3 times altogether. A couple of weeks later I found out I was expecting my first baby. I have not seen anything since although several buildings I've been in over the years have spooked me.
