Pumpkin's dying on Halloween! Update -She's gone

Recommended Posts

Seems a bit odd but my Pumpkin (ex bat) has slowed down lately and been plodging around but still eating and still coming slowly for treats.

Today she has stayed in the cube and is now slumped down as if she is waiting to go.

I hope she goes quickly.

I so sorry to hear about Pumpkin.

Just a thought though as Ping did much the same thing last year and it turned out to be a large egg stuck in her. Somehow it had broken inside and, without going into too much detail, we had to help her get it out. Once it was gone and after a few warm baths and a course of antibiotics she was right as rain.

We have just lost our Cilla - sounds very similar. She had been pottering around slowly for a few days - and having more little snoozes in the sun- but still racing Cluck to the treats Then on Wednesday she just went to sleep in the nest box. When I found her standing in it, but with her eyes closed, I made the decision to let her go off to sleep where she was rather than disturb her. It is hard to know what to do for the best but if she had seemed distressed I would have taken her to the vets. Within a couple of hours she had gone.

Hope Pumpkin goes quickly too.

She's gone. Yesterday she was sunbathing on the summerhouse verandah. She's had 7 1/2 months out of her cage to enjoy a free ranging life.

Only 1 ex bat remains with us.

Thanks all - we take comford form knowing what a happy life she had with us and they way she slowed down made me think it was like getting old and going to sleep. Which to me is the best anyone can hope for.
