Did anyone else watch Countdown yesterday? - and were able to work out the first numbers?

 

I do beat Carol on the numbers sometimes - but she usually comes back later in the programme to say that she has worked it out...........yesterday, she didn't

 

The numbers were..........

 

100 - 6 - 7 - 1 - 2 - 1 - and the total = 723

I would generally let something like this bother me, and I would spend a great deal of time trying to figure it out, BUT as I haven't a clue what "Countdown" is I'll leave you all to it.

Using the numbers given only once each you have to make the total (723)

 

You don't have to use all the numbers.

 

You can add, subtract, multiply and divide.

I love Countdown numbers! I'm finding it very hard to believe Carol couldn't do it. She must surely have been having a very bad day?

Finally got it with Ginette's help (thanks, Ginette). Clearly, the sum is easy if you look at it the right way, but not if you're 'numerically challenged' like me but it is surprising that Carol didn't get it. Especially as I've heard that when they record Countdown, they stop recording to let her work it out... (may just be a vicious rumour though).

Well, I've worked it out in less than 30 secs, unless I've done something wrong....Have only read your 1st post, so off to read the rest now...

 

...I love Countdown, esp. the numbers (but rarely get the conundrum!) but have missed watching it for ages.

 

Surprising then that Carol didn't get it with those numbers! May I pm someone to see if I was right, & I promise I wasn't cheating!

Just saying I wasn't wrong. Several people have done it the same way.

 

And it is easy and I still can't understand why Carol couldn't do it. She manages some amazingly complex manipulations and this one is obvious and straightforward. (no insults intended to those who are still struggling!)

Well I can't do it! But I don't watch countdown so not 100% sure I'm doing the right thing anyway! Someone put me out of my misery please! (via pm if you want!)

I've spent the whole afternoon having hot flushes , wondering if I'd made a fool of myself and used numbers twice

 

I really don't know why Carol couldn't get it....I was waiting for her to say "...if you make the 3 using......"

 

I could be happy just having the whole show as numbers as well Janty!
