Question on BYC.......

Has anyone here bought an eglu from omlet or eglu cube? Is their sevice good? Is it easy to move? And, most importantly, is it worth it? Thanks!! ~Ruby

Replies......

1. Y'know, I have to say that Linda's experience is what I've read here on BYC from people who actually own Eglu's; the negative comments tend to come from people who don't own one and I daresay have perhaps never even seen one in person.

2.I don't own one, but once I did email Omlet to ask about buying just the Eglu with no run (I want a MUCH larger run) and they replied very quickly. So I'd say the customer service is good. Still too rich for my blood, but oh well.

(Let's try not to get this thread locked, shall we?)

3.I don't own one but I think they are a great idea. They may be pricey

but what isn't? They are cool looking too.

I'd like one to keep a few more silkies in.

I think we have some converts.......Cool 8)

BYC is http://www.backyardchickens.com. It is an american chicken keeping forum that I used to contribute to, that was until I was called "inhumane" for keeping my girls in an Eglu.

Recently I signed onto the forum to find someproducts for my girls, that I've heard about on this forum (we can't get the same supplies in the US). There was a thread there filled with inaccurate information about the Eglu. I posted about it here and some of our fellow Omleteers joined BYC to set the record straight. It seems to have worked. :D

Maybe someone will be along soon who can link you to the original thread.

It's Backyard Chickens an American forum.

Mark was involved in a one man (soon to be joined by many indignant Omleteers) mission to spread the goodness of the Eglu to someone on there who said how bad the Eglu was - the Omlet forum's parallel thread is in our Eglu's and Cube's section called Lies, Lies, Lies (or something similar!)

Its a tale of mud slinging, good against mean and had so much backtracking I couldn't keep up!

It was the most drama I have seen in a long time :D

The Eglu isn't everyones cup of tea (or Latte) however I am still surprised by the number of ill informed comments I have seen about them! indeed my own mum threatened to call the RSPCA if I bought one as she said they are too small and its cruel to keep chickens in one!
