OK after all the indecision I just bought an Aga on Ebay!

Recommended Posts

Yep I just bought an Aga on Ebay - secondhand but still under guarantee and has already been professionally dismantled by an Aga engineer (to keep the guarantee ok). I was shaking as the auction ended - I've never spent such a large sum online before!

So now I need it collected and installed here - time to find a good person, I guess to keep the warranty going it will need to be the official aga person. Oooooh it's exciting!

I thought I was decided in the Everhot until I went and visited the Aga shop again this morning (they sell both there!). I came out decided on the Aga but I knew this one was on Ebay.

I have to find someone to collect and an installer to install it first but want it up and running ASAP as it is part of my "no heating" solution (Only I could define a very expensive cooker as a money saving device!)

I guess I am going to have to do a whole lot more cooking now.....

Oh and I might need some Aga covers in a lovely chicken fabric SNOWY......

BTW this is going to be partly my 40th birthday present - I was going to get a boob job but I decided on an Aga instead.

As for the rest of the cash - anyone want to buy a Brittania range cooker and a fancy blue cooker hood???

You will love your aga....I have a claret 3 door and it is wonderful. We have ours in the dining room! because the kitchen is so small and it adds such warmth and character and space as with growing teenagers there is none of that in the kitchen with more than 2 in there! It is worth going along to a cooking demo held at Aga shops ..... you do cook differently - using th :D e ovens more etc....enjoy, bet you can't wait!!

Congratulations

We gained an aga when we moved into our house, I had always wanted one DS says that it was the only reason I wanted the house

What type of fuel does it use, ours is oil but OH is seriously considering changing to an electric one but I am not sure how reliable they are.

Is it a 2, 3 or 4 oven?

Sorry lots of questions. I am sure you will love it, going to a cookery demonstration is a good idea as cooking techniques are completely different.

How lovely. Am green with envy.

Am amazed at the differences in price on ebay.

If you don't mind cream there is a beauty **here** for £333.00 at time of posting.

It has got me thinking.........

You can get some very cheap ones if you are after oil or gas - mines electric which is pricey as they are harder to get - although they are the ones which are selling the most as new according to the shop I was in today. I walked through my icy kitchen this morning thinking "won't be like this soon!". At the moment you open the door from Mums lovely warm dining room and the icy blast hits you - good job thats a proper external door in between.

Its a 3 oven electric - I did want a 3 oven as I do loads of baking and you get a baking oven. TBH I guess thats the one which will get the most use.

Well done  3 oven

You will wonder how you lived without it. I thought of you yesterday.... I had bread proving on the lid of simmering plate, MiL undies airing on lid of boiling plate, clothes airer in front with damp washing on, sponge in top oven and casserole in bottom oven  I sh  ould have taken a pic and sent it to Aga!!

I will be interested to know how you get on with electric one, I have heard they are very good, is it economy 7? ,

I do do agree that you will benefit greatly by going to a demonstration, you get lots of tips on how to conserve heat thereby saving money. Also a good timer is essential...no cooking smells to remind you something is in the oven.

excellent news

How exciting. :D

I have a claret oven but it's an oil one which is good for us as we frequently lose our electricity for one reason or another but the Aga keeps going.

On cold mornings like this I open the top oven door and stand in front enjoying the waft of heat. At the moment I've got my coat warming on top before I go out into the snow.

Oh.. and it's good for cooking things too. :D

Its Claret - if choosing I would have gone for Aubergene but that would have cost a LOT more!

I read that as it's Claret (as in forum member) and thought you'd bought an orange one and wondered if they even came in that colour!

Very nice, glad you got what you wanted and reasonably priced too!

Mum spoke to the lady we won the Aga off today (I DON'T do phones!) and she was lovely. Turns out she has had to downsize and try as she did she couldn't find a place with room for her Aga which she loved. She is going to see if the place where it's in storage will quote for delivery as this might be the one Ebay purchase I can't fit in a Mondeo (although I'm sure it's smaller than the TRIPLE wardrobe I packed in there today!).

Then we need to arrange for it to be fitted - I hope the local Aga dealers aren't TOO busy as my kitchen is FREEZING and I really want this up and running for the ambient heat!

Course the minute I do get it up we'll end up with a power cut!
