I bought that for Ian's Christmas stocking, if he reads this then he's only himself to blame for spoiling the surprise! I'm reading 'semi-detached' Griff Rhys-Jones' autobiog. Was reading Slash's autobiog but lost interest as it was just sex, drugs and well, rock and roll! semi-detached is a little more interesting but it has no photos in it, you can't have an autobiog without photos! Well, unles you're GRJ Anyway, think I might lose interest in it soon however, SIL bought us a subscription to Home Farmer for Christmas and I haven't read the first one yet so think I'll read that next

Christian
I tried to 'tape' it on our new fancy-schmancy dvd player hard drive and messed it up. It was on Sky one last year and I still haven't seen it. I have read a few now and like them, AnnieP recommended reading them in order i.e Guards series, Witches etc, but I haven't worked out which is which yet
Valkyrie
I have still to see The Hogfather programme, but read it a while ago - avid Pratchett fan, me. Last in the pecking order for TV too, but David Jason made a very good Rincewind (made sure I got in there, much to OH's disgust). My favourite is Moving Pictures (I can't look at Rock Hudson without thinking about trolls now), but I like the Witches books too. All very funny, witty, silly and appeal to my sense of dappy humour. The last one I read was Monstrous Regiment.

I will pass it on to my daughter. i think everyone should read it, brilliant book! Isn't it a fantastic book? So sad...not sure I could bring myself to watch the film. I cry v.v. easily lol. Last book I read was To Kill a Mockingbird as part of my course (Law in Lit and Film module) and found myself really disagreeing with most acaedemics on the issue of Atticus Finch! So do you guys find him to be a legal hero??! xXx

Didn't he also risk his own life by going against the small minded racist attitude of the town? I think I was very fond of his character. I remember really enjoying the book, just wish my memory was better!

In the film (ive been told - not watched it) he gets Tom acquitted because of the whole left hand thing but in the book the jury still decide to convict him (perverse verdict - all white jury etc) and he is shot trying to escape from prison. Then Boo saves Scout and Jem from the girl's (Sorry forgot her name) dad by killing him and the Sherrif and Atticus cover it up! I think I got most of it in there x
