chelsea
move home and buy a house with land or buy land are you planning to move very far? We will move to Scotland one day (always the dream). But for now looking locally, have seen 8 acres/Alpaca farm for sale not far from us with planning for mobile home (FIL says we could erect log cabin ) - that would suit me quite happily! Would love to have my own dog boarding kennels. We'll see.
Phonix
Would love to have my own dog boarding kennels. I have wanted to do that since I was like 5 yrs old and went to visit my dads friends who ran a cattery and kennels! x
Olly
I don't do New Year's resolutions. I do - not necessarily at New Year, although it's a convenient time - set goals. Then I review them after a few months, and see if they're still what I want, or whether I'm doing what I need to do to achieve them, or whether I have some new goals. This is a sort of rolling programme throughout the year. A couple of years ago, getting an Eglu was one of my goals!
Tessa the Duchess
I don't do New Year's resolutions. Nor do I. I don't make plans either, you know what they say happens when you make plans?.......god laughs However, I would very much like to get some more chickens when the weather stops being so Arctic Tessa
ali-s
I made some goals for 2008 that have been achieved. I became a blood donor, moved to a house in the country with a bigger garden and got more Chickens (although I seem to be losing them very quickly ) For 2009 my goals are... convert the loft into a bedroom and walk in linen/store cupboard. Knock down a wall in the kitchen and put in new cupboards and worktops. Install a wood burner in the living room. Get the veg garden up and running. Learn to make soup (this one carried over from 2008, I am rubbish at soup making ) Finally I would love to reduce my hours at work/ find other part time work. Andy has told me to go for it I really like my job but sometimes I work up to 50 hours plus a week and I have no free time for me time
fowlbird
I've decided to take things as they come - if it happens it happens - if it doesn't, it doesn't... every time I make plans things go wrong
Lesley
I don't make a big thing of New Year but I do like to take stock........ Next year I will be keeping on top of our own paperwork.....I started last October and will have things straight by next week. I also want to continue losing weight - I've very slowly lost a stone and a half in the last year....... and I must eat breakfast.....and it might be nice if I made an effort to eat it at the same time as Carl instead of being glued to the forum..... chelsea
Is anyone going out to celebrate? I hate NYE and have memories of everyone going out, getting drunk, being very sentimental and ending up in a pile somewhere. Am quite happy to stay in....must be old age! BeckyBoo
Was planning to take the littlies to our local social club - I can walk there and they have a party that children are welcome at, sadly with everyone vomiting I do believe I will be spending New Years Eve with Mr BBC and Mrs ITV. Again As for resolutions, all I want is for 2009 to be a better year, this one has been awful for me and the children. Practical stuff, I would like to go some way to getting the house finished, there are holes in every room, I have had no lights in the kitchen for 3 weeks and none in half the dining room for 2 years! I also need to paint over the scribble that my son has done YET AGAIN on two more walls. But mostly I would like to try to be a bit more relaxed about things, to enjoy my children more, grow more veg (would like some sunshine to help with that please God if You're listening! ) to be less "hormonal" and high maintenance. To be happy cos there hasn't been a lot of that in this house this year Mrs B
Snowy
OH and I are getting together with a few friends at their house. Teenage son is babysitting the littlies New year: grow some veg on my lottie; get fit (son and I both need to do more exercise - I bought him a very expensive XL T shirt for christmas and it is too small!); enjoy the last few months having a littlie at home before he starts school in September; then decide how I'm going to earn money when they are all at school! riane
Having lost two dear friends this year I have decided to not take my family and friends for granted and not wait till retirement to do things. I will try to enjoy my time now and not always be in a rush everywhere. Do less , enjoy more!
Chickpea
Am going to a house party with my OH in Surbiton, the fancy dress theme is movie characters from the 70s/80s we're going as Danny & Sandy from Grease Hopefully it should be a great laugh! Next year: Get a polytunnel up on the field, move chickens and get more for the field, get the market garden up and running, sell some produce! Pass my exams to be a fully qualified horticulturalist, spend more time with friends & family.
MedusA
My plans for 2009: Lose a bit more weight (lost a stone but have put half of it back on). Following on from that - improve my fitness levels. Finish digging the second allotment and get it in full production. This may help towards the first two. Do more stained glass work. Complete half-finished projects before I start anything else new. Get the hall, stairs, landing and study stripped, replastered and decorated. Get a woodburner fitted. Visit my Mum more often - every couple of months at least. Last but not least. Persuade OH to upgrade to a cube.
