jomaxsmith
you empty the Eglu poo tray and the poo is frozen to the bars! It's minus 4 on the temp sensor under the gazebo next to the Eglu. The hens are still refusing to walk on the snow and are trying to navigate the garden without treading on any! Jo
C&T
I had to chip the frozen poo off the tray this morning.... Things I never thought I would be doing or discussing this time last year!!
mostin
It's very chilly "up north" as well today, no fear of slipping on poo on the grass as it's all frozen , but at least we don't have the snow.
moomin
We had a big lump of poo , frozen to the roosting bars this morning! And I couldn't get it off! Then I had to leave for work So my son has strict instructions - much to his delight - to try and get it off later this afternoon when he gets back from school! Hopefully it will be a bit warmer by then and will have softened! If not they will be in bed when I get in from work and it will be like they are sitting on an ice-cube, the poor loves! beach chick
I put a fresh bowl of water out at 7.45 this am. just went out now, 2ish, and it was completely frozen!!! needless to say, they have more, plus some hot, wet mash to keep them warm and keep their fluid levels up... on the positive side though, I think they are noticing that the days are slightly longer - today was our 2nd 5 egg day in a row after a long time of anything from 1 to 4 eggs, depending on who was moulting, broody or just didnt feel like it... HENthusiastic
I've been telling OH all about the frozen poos for days now . I think they are fab. I walk around the garden plucking them up as if they are stones. Much easier than when they are goey and smelly. I had a bit of a rake up of the leaves over the weekend and was suprised that the frozen poos kept pinging into the air and were very easily raked into my recycling bag! I am probably a bit odd, but I am really liking the frozen poo thing

The poo mountain on the floor wasn't.
