My Hubby has come round to the idea of having Chickens!!!!

I didn't really have to try either :dance: He saw me looking on here the first day and was like yeah right and we had a laugh. I then confessed today about my idea about keeping chickens and he said 'i know, because of all the tabs you have up' lol!

Anyway long story short he says it's ok, but i'm still a nutter :lol: and that our neighbours prob won't be too happy about it.

Well my first war is won. Now to prepare! Woohoo

Love you Ygerna for bringing this possibility to my attention.

Now to decide what I need and where I'll get the money from :anxious:

Welcome to the world of chicken keeping...you're here forever now :P

 

Lots of people have posted lists of all the essentials you need so have a look at them and why don't you try 1 of those things where you save up all the change you have until your goal (eglu (blue eglu)(red eglu)(green eglu)(purple eglu)(brown eglu)(orange eglu)(eglu lilac)(pink eglu) )

Congratulation l started of with 3 l now have 6 normal hens and 2 ex battery hens which l paid £1.00 for each they have been the best £2.00 l have ever spent.Also l have 6 ducks 2 of them l have had from 1 day old and brought up myself.Its a brilliant hobby.If you was interested in battery hens if you go to the links on omlet you will find hen rescue.Good luck in what ever you decide and post some pics. :D

I agree with tom, if you start you will be here for ever!!

 

I did the small change thing and with just what I had stashed in a jar and found in handbags and drawers I had £46 in 1p, 2p and 5p! I also had a clear out over christmas and put some staff on ebay and got my figure up to £204! With some other money saving bits and bob and called in a few debts from my brother I am collecting my new (purple eglu) on thursday!

:dance: Congratulations. And don't forget, if money is short you dont have to have n eglu. There are pleanty of us on here with old fashioned wooden houses which you can get from the internet for a fraction of the price. It doesn't have to be expensive. Pleased for you. CHickenkeeping is even better than you are hoping for! :dance:

Well done. My husband mark was the same at first. now he comes on here just as much as me and has built me a fantastic hen house and run....have a look in chicken run inspirations as he posted pics. And now the best bit........we pick our hens up on saturday morning. :D:D
