Chook n Boo Mum
Oh my goodness, yet another thing which makes me think "I could make that!" I have friends who grow willow & I'm sure we could make some cloches from that , that would hopefully get round my big purple letters at the bottom of my signature! Plum
They are really different. Perhaps they'll keep the chickens off as well.
Valkyrie
They're not cloches - they are anti chicken devices therefore highly desireable! Velly interlesting for future purchases!
kitchens
Sha you sound as bad as me - Before I buy anything I check I can't make it first!! They could easily be made out of willow and would look lovely. Great for keeping chickens off anything you are trying to grow. I saw them in a book where they were being used to keep the chooks off! Go on - have a go!

bluekarin
http://www.giftsandgardens.com/bamboo-cloche.htm Must order some That is exactly what I've been looking for for my imiment veggie patch. A bit more than I wanted to spend, so I shall have to see if I can make something similar myself.

hillfamily
They're not cloches - they are anti chicken devices therefore highly desireable! Velly interlesting for future purchases! I've had some of the domed ones for a couple of years and can confirm that they are very definitely Chicken proof plant protection .........although I do have one chook who likes to perch on top of them and have a little doze
Christian
I bought a set of 3 a few years ago. They have lasted really well and do keep the chickens off the plants
bluekarin
.........although I do have one chook who likes to perch on top of them and have a little doze That would be fine. A bit of fertilizer for the veggies while they sleep
jomaxsmith
I'm using the cheap expandable trellis from Poundstretcher (the type that's made of sticks, not flat wood) to make moveable chicken proof fences for my veggies. I'm definitely going to think further about making some of those cloches though - wonder where you buy suitable bamboo Jo

TheGirlsMum
I was watching some vintage Gardeners Worlds the other day and the great Geoff Hamilton was showing off some of these cloche.......
redhotchick
They are gorgeous! Want want want. But won't.
Egluntyne
They are very attractive. I have a soporific DVD about chicken keeping by Francine Raymond and in the bit about chickens and gardens, she uses these.
Valkyrie
At least they are nicer to look at than what I have at the moment - strategically placed old freezer drawer over young fuschia. Funnily enough, Apache likes sitting on top too. She's probably killed the poor plant in another way!
Olly
I'm definitely going to think further about making some of those cloches though - wonder where you buy suitable bamboo Jo I don't know, but it looks similar to the stuff used for repairing cane chair seats. Try googling upholstery supplies, you'd just need a bit of dowel with holes drilled in for the edges/a circle of some sort for the round ones, shouldn't be too difficult!
