My cockerel crowed - that means he has to go....

Recommended Posts

......Gutted. I knew he would eventually but my lovely boy Brahma, Scruff crowed this morning for the first time. I can't keep crowing boys so I'm gutted (we ate the last one) but I can't bring myself to kill such a beautiful boy (very hypocritical I know  ) so he's going back to the breeder I got the egg from and he will live as a stud (lucky boy!)

We're all going to be sad because he's SUCH a wuss, not like the last boy who was quite aggressive, he runs a mile from everything! Still, at least we'll find out if Dandelion the Buff Orpington is a by or a girl as he/she will have time to mature if it is a boy.

Bye bye Scruff, he'll be gone at the weekend :(

Hi....is that Mrs Bertie?

I haven't been on for ages, but noticed the location!

I too have a cockerel that is going back, to the guy I bought my eggs from, this Saturday! Hector, the Buff Sussex was hatched with his sister on Sept 6th last year. He's croaking at the moment so he will start crowing soon................gotta get him outta here so I don't give my neighbours anything to complain about!

Hopefully his sister won't miss him.

How did you go about eating the other one? Do you know someone local that can "prepare" them for you?
