redfrock
I'm off to get 4 new hens on Sunday! How I shall manage to restrain myself to 4 I just don't know - particularly given my previous lack of restraint when going to get 'just 3' or 'just 4' We are adding 4 LF pure breeds to our flurry! I'm so excited I can't wait. The only downside is that the supplier is anti-omlet .... I'm sure you some of you will know who I mean, but I believe the quality of his stock is good, and I haven't found anyone local with the breeds we are looking for, or the variety of pure breeds
abwsco
Ooooh exciting What are you getting Claire.
Plum
Lucky you, the supplier doesn't need to know you have an omlet if you want to avoid upsetting remarks. Just call it a coop and know you have the best type of house for you. Have fun

The Dogmother
Prudence just prodded me about this, and you're a very naughty girl Go for it Hon and enjoy your new babies; I have a new name/excuse for buying a few new chickens... 'Stock Rotation' - guarantees that I always have layers as the oldsters retire. Pictures expected!
redfrock
how exciting.... please dont say you are getting orpingtons or my "orp envy" will come on again.. might be yes we are getting one orp for definite - Andy has had his heart set on one since we last Spring when we popped round to Ben for our last hybrids. I hancy a Jubilee one, he wants a Buff. The other 3 I don't know yet - possibly a Wyandotte and a Brahma, maybe a cochin or a silkie! I know it will be hard to choose - what is the betting that 5 end up in my baskets by mistake LOL! The only thing is that they are really rather expensive, so that will probably ensure Prudence remains poking her nose over my shoulder, also I want my run to be under capacity rather than straining at the seams. As for stock rotation - that is exactly my excuse Clare! 4 intakes means an ongoing supply of eggs over the years! Don't you worry - photos will be on here pronto. I even have a long weekend to indulge in them. The only shame is that we can't get them until Sunday - as per the supplier. Hoepfully they will travel the 2 hours ok
The Dogmother
They'll be fine for the journey if you keep them cool and dark
