Karen & co.
Hi Emma They are getting better all the time Sprite is definately one of the original girls now, they even let her lay in 'their' eglu still a little scruffy and threadbear but coming on in confidence such alot. Pixie still has a very slight limp but it's only obvious when she runs after flies or treats Elf is giving up her throne a little and enjoying being freerange, and Fairy is still the most moody and scared, her feathers are now coming through so she looks less like a vulture but very stroppy for a little 'un and will take on the dogs if they come too close, or she chases them if they try to stay away I gave them a little left over tagliatelle the other day, and even though she didn't know what to do with it, she wouldn't let the other girls get any so I ended up splitting the pile into 3 so she couldn't police all of them. They are all really muddy, compared to the others as they are still not too good at keeping clean even when they dig in the same places, and Sprite even has a dirty face, but looks at me as if to say "I haven't been near the mud, honest!" I promise I will try and put the photo's up soon, I may need a little guidance karen x
Martin B
Can't wait to see the pictures. They sound like they are having a great time in their recovery process!
ubereglu
They sound lovely, nice to know that their feathers are growing back well-so they won't be too cold when winter comes.
theherd123
Karen they sound like they have their feet well & truly under the table esp Sprite! Im sure the limp Pixie has will get better with time & the tricks Fairy gets up to makes me laugh - guarding the tagliatelle - i can just imagine her running from pile to pile I have bought a washing up bowl for mine too - just in case they need it, one of mine can be queen then! One thing im wondering is what have you done health care wise since they arrived - have you wormed them, clipped their nails & wings, etc? Karen & co.
How funny I was going to put a post on this morning Emma is it great minds think alike? We moved the eglus on wednesday and put them side by side not end to end, if that makes sense so spent wednesday evening in the dark and rain, picking them out of the 'wrong' eglu and posting them into the 'right' one Last night went to lock them up for the night checked numbers and colours in the eglu, no probs.....shut the doors and went in. This morning let them out and they had been mixed up voluntarily and Pixie (ex batt) had a sleepover in the blue eglu and Frodo had a sleepover in the red one No feathers seem to be missing and they all seem fine now, so I think I'm more concerned than they are Count down to getting your girls is in single figures now:D karen x
theherd123
How fab Karen!! Great minds do think alike!!! (We are women - it goes without saying) Love the idea of chicken sleepovers - wonder if they pack PJs and lots of treats too?! It seems like they have all settled in with each other and really feel at home - a real credit to you and your family for such dedicated care. Im so excited about getting our girls! Every time we work on the hen hotel i keep saying to the OH how we have to make it perfect for them as they will have come from a life of absolute hell so their new home must be just right. We need to put in the first floor this week and we are planning to plonk a couple of bails of straw, a small wooden ladder and a collection old small logs in the hotel for them too. We have a pecka black to hang up as well! I think they will be very spoilt hens dont you?

Karen & co.
The sleep over idea seems to be catching there are 6 in one eglu tonight and 2 in the other And I worried they may not get on very well karen x
theherd123
Im sure they will be all ok Karen esp with a good mum like you watching over them. They are just popping over to each others houses for a bit of a look around and lots of chicken chatter 4 days to go before i pick up my girls!!! Just set the eglu & run up in the dining room so i can keep my eye on them for a few days before they go outside

theherd123
Thankfully im very lucky there Mel and no reminders are needed - ever! Flowers arrive at work for no reason, little gifts when i pick him up from work - cards, chocolate etc - Im a very lucky lady
Snowy
Wow - ever thought of hiring him out? Or even better, setting up some 'husband training' classes?
Trish
wow I impressed, you could make a fortune getting him to do "keep the missus happy" seminars. My OH tends to make very infrequent but very big gestures. Not complaining but I sometimes think that a regular supply of flowers and cups of tea in bed would be every bit as good.
