breadmakers and slow cookers

Recommended Posts

Well done Claire

You always seem to find a bargain :D

I bet your bread tastes lovely

I use my breadmaker every day, I didn't think I would, another gadget

I make a 50/50 medium sized loaf and it does us all for sandwiches and a couple of slices of toast

Post any nice recipes you find

If it only costs 1/3 of the price of a more expensive one to start with then you could have two of them wear out and still be in pocket :D

Thank you Rob, the voice of reason

The breadmaker is on again doing a 50/50 wholemeal/white concoction, it is huge  . My mother is still using last weeks white loaf for toast, she says it is lovely :D . I hope I have bought my last shop loaf 8)

You'll never eat shop bread again Claire

I only had enough bread this morning to make Dan and the childrens sandwiches, so I had to buy a sandwich and it really was horrible

You'll soon recoup the cost of your machine, mine has definitely earned its keep

Now you sound like the sort of person who could argue for another eglu or two (or a cube!!!) on the basis that it would save you money by not having to buy eggs from the supermarket :lol:

Now there's a thought. Once our two girls start producing eggs and we start building demand locally then maybe I can successfully argue for further Omlet housing products :D

If your breadmaker has a timer function then there is nothing nicer than putting the ingredients for something like a cinnamon and raisin loaf in the machine the night before and then waking up to the smell of it gently baking.

Just a quick return to the breadmaker theme for anyone who's interested!

I bought the Panasonic blah de blah one with the fruit and nut dispenser as recommended by so many lovely people on this forum!

Here we are over 6 months later, and we use it all the time! The bread is amazing, so much nicer and more flavoursome than the shop bought cardboard tat! 8) We've tried several of the different recipes, all of which have turned out well, and have a regular loaf that is our standard fayre.

I would gladly give away my microwave, juicer, toaster or any other gadget, but never, never the breadmaker!

I don't use mine as much as I sued to with my parents there my dad won't use unsliced bread :evil:

I do still make my bread in it though

I just have a cheap Morphy Richards basic one but I am thinking about getting a different one as I love it so much but it makes very skinny but tall bread if that makes sense so I would prefer to get one with a better shaped baking tin any suggestions :?

I've got the famous Panasonic SD253 with the nut/seed/raisin dispenser - I've had it a couple of years now and it makes lovely seeded loaves - big fat ones. When I was shopping around, the cheapest I found it was on Amazon. It's not the cheapest breadmaker onthe market, but the quality is superb and it has a brilliant recipe booklet.

I usually make a white loaf with local organic flour and loads of omega seeds (pumpkin, linseed and sunflower). The timer means that I can wake up to fresh bread in the morning. Shame you're so far away, or I'd lend you mine to road test. The raisin loaf is delish *Mmmmm*
