Guest
Our first batch of frog spawn appeared in the pond on Wednesday.... Just wondered who else has some, and whereabouts in the country they are....

Karen & co.
I'm checking our pond each morning last year I borrowed some from a friend who hates the stuff, as my girls had been pootling around under the trees near the pond and I think scared off the frogs and toad that lives in my green house Fingers crossed we get some this year Karen x
MadMitch
We have quite a lot, it arrived in the pond about 3 weeks ago, they are still making more at the moment and were making a hell of a racket last nght.
Kirstine
We've got some here in Southern Scotland. not sure when it 'arrived' but it was in the pond last Tuesday. I don't go and gaze into the pond as much as I should in this weather! We've had a couple of frosts this week, will that be a problem for fertility? Ana's flock
Some has appeared on my pond too... and it keeps growing.
craftyhunnypie
There better not be any in our garden. I had to get rid of my water feature because of the dreaded frogs! (shudders). Emma.x
Guest
I have noticed that sometimes if it gets very cold the frog spawn seems to fail. Last year I even covered the pond at night to try and keep it gong! It did work, I have to say!
Bassett
I've been checking the pond daily, but none here yet!
Hen Huggers R Us
We don't have a pond, but close to the woods (about 100m from the house) where we walk the dog, there is a pond with loads of the stuff, I noticed it last week but now there is twice as much, we didn't count but I reckon there could be 50 frogs or more, the surface of the water near the side was alive with loads of croaking and a swirling mass of frogs and bubbles, quite a sight. susiepoos
Frog spawn arrived yesterday - wasn't that much in the morning but by late afternoon there was loads - another pleasant summer I hope sitting in the garden watching the chickens chase the cat, who's chasing the frogs all round the garden
Lydia
We have a very small clump in our smaller pond. Got to champion the native frog as it's having a hard time of it at the moment.

theherd123
Christian would love some frog spawn, Christian loves frogs!!! We find the occasional frog in the rockery and last summer with all the rain we had tiny frogs in the garden - very cool!

hillfamily
we have had the odd frog in our garden now and then :D .....but never had any frog spawn in the pond
Vivihen
Noticed the first clump last Tuesday (17th) about a month later than last year. Usually all the activity is over in one or two days but this year it has been more gradual with at least one extra clump appearing every morning. Normally the frogs resting on top of the pond disappear at any movement nearby but this year they have stayed on the surface of the water making an incredible amount of noise. Snowy
We've finally got some - I was a bit worried that the chickens had decimated the frog population! Got three big clusters now with more on the way judging by all the froggy activity going on in there!
Mrs Frugal
We have loads of frogspawn in our tiny pond. The frogs have been busy for the last fortnight and the first clump appeared last weekend. They've been adding to it ever since and all we can hear is frogs talking to each other when we go outside now . They are lovely !

..lay a little egg for me
We dredged the sludge out of our pond yesterday and found 9 newts and one frog. Very pleased about the newts but a bit disappointed about the one frog with no mates! Two years ago, a friend gave us a load of tadpoles that they had collected and hatched out for educational purposes for their kids but had no pond so we got all the tadpoles. We knew there were a couple of newt tadpoles in there so were glad to see they had bred, but we are surprised that out of the 80 or so frog tadpoles only one has survived to return to the pond. How can we encourage a mate to join our billy no mates frog?
Lydia
It's possible that your newts have eaten some your tadpoles - sad but true. Also dragonfly larvae are ferocious beasts and will eat absolutely anthing. However, frogs don't reach maturity for 2-3 years and, during that time, will go off and live under greenhouses, sheds etc., so it's also possible that your frogs are still there and will return in a couple of years when they feel frisky.
