Single hen

Some pics of the chicks one week on (apart from the straggler hatched last Sunday). The Splash chicks have their little flecks coming through and I love the colour of the Blues. Think the Black has a look of 'boy' but they're all feathering up at the same rate so far so fingers crossed. Off kitchen paper and on to Easibed today, which means I'll need to raise the drinker on an upturned bowl

As I expected they have had a ball with the Easibed and the drinker and feeder are full of the stuff. It's comical too.....one picks up a piece of wood and makes excited noises then the others make chase....then they drop it realising it's not edible....then another one does the same. Takes them ages to realise it's not a tasty treat

 

Egluntine.....what do you have in and when are they due?

In reply to feemcg and chickvic, I have 8 eggs incubating. A mix of light Sussex and Speckled Sussex. Due to hatch on 2nd/3rd April.

I have to say I really like the speckled sussex, I have never seen them available locally, but the light sussex I have.

 

I am going to be all gooey eyed over little chick pics I know it!

I've hatched both those breeds Egluntine, so have some girl chick pics I can show you for sexing comparison. Sussex are fairly quick to sex anyway

I'll start a thread on my Light Sussex chicks tomorrow because I change my mind on a daily basis as to what they are Some days I think they're all boys and some days I think I might have two girls amongst all the boys. Maybe you can shed some light!

Oh I am so jealous! I love French Copper Marans - I have some blue copper eggs in my incubator that I am willing to hatch with all my might! They, along with some silkies, orps, and aracanas are due to hatch around the 5th. Gonna be lots of babies on the boards soon!
