craftyhunnypie
How much longer do we have to wait? Any wobbles or pipping? Remember, sometimes they pip underneath & you can't see. Good luck Emma.x
Charlottechicken
Are they out yet I have a manual incubator and didn't notice any wobbling but when I went to turn the eggs on day 20 I caught my finger on the pipped shell, spoke loudly , and the egg cheeped back at me Only then did I notice another egg was also pipped. Ooh, it's so exciting
craftyhunnypie
Hatching is fabulous as long as it's well planned for any boys & organised for when they hatch. It is very rewarding & a nice way to add to your flock. I started with 3 chooks from Omlet, I now have 21. Four of which I hatched. 3 of those are boys. He he I've kept them & love them to bits. My neighbours are very understanding - I do not live in the country & they have been so nice about the crowing - they like it! I have bungalows next to me, our garden is a triange & 5 gardens back onto the point of it. We also have a block of luxury apartments (flats) opposite us. I must have the worlds most tolerent neighbours. Hurry up little chickies! (edited to prevent misinterpretation of how many chickens I've got) Emma.x Edited April 16, 2009 by Guest

Jules.
They are due tomorrow, Emma No change over night. I'm sharing the hatch with 2 other people, I have beeen designated incubator sitter and any boys hatched will be killed & eaten when they get to the crowing stage. I hope to keep 2 cocks & 2 hens, the hens to be added to my WIR & laying flock, then I will have 6 hens, each a year pair a year apart in age. Jules.
A couple of photos, taken 10 mins ago when we spotted our first egg starting to hatch The eggs all have things written over them, "x" & "0" & arrows so we know which way to turn them, with candleing days & "?" if we weren't sure if the egg was ok or not. The hatching is on the second row far left.

Griffin
We should start a thread for strange things we say or do to our hatching eggs I find myself talking to them in a really high pitched voice when they're peeping, imagine this in the style of the Three Little Pigs 'little pig little pig let me come in' only I say "little chicks little chicks speak to your mummy" I shall have to check for a birth announcement here before I go to work tomorrow morning
