And therefore it follows logically that adults living in, erm, under-cleaned houses will have their asthma cured.So my house might be a little - how shall I put it delicately - filthy, but it's necessary for medical reasons. We have laminate flooring in our front room, except for under the sofa where we have 'carpet'. Ok, so not really carpet just a really thick layer of dust! sadietoo Posted April 18, 2009 Share Posted April 18, 2009 Relax guys......after a week the dust is the same as after several months...( I have scientific proof....well it looks the same anyway ) Keep the kitchen and bathroom spotless...the rest doesn't matter..... as far as I know, no one ever died from a surplus of discarded socks down the back of the sofa....did they?...( Please say no or I may be guilty of a heinous crime ) I couldn't possibly have a cleaner in...the house if far far too messy for that! Glad I did, there must have been about 10 balls under them (thanks Cookie) various other dog toys, I lost count of the number of pens, odd socks, sweet wrappers and I hate to tell you how much dust. I have a beautifully clean and tidy house now (apart from all the drink and food everywhere). No idea who said it, but I like it!!! And my DD is very happy to prove the point at your house should you need her to...a friend apologised for the slightly dusty shelf in her front hall - barely noticeable it has to be said - so quoted the above to her. Ana's flock Posted April 18, 2009 Share Posted April 18, 2009 Yup, I know someone like that, I went to her house a couple of times and it was like sitting in a nice corner of John Lewis's furniture department - I was half expecting a very polite stranger to approach me to ask if there's anything he could help me with! Talk about creepy... No danger about that in our house... In fact one of the good things of having a dog is that at least I no longer find bits of biscuit under the coffee table... but I've found my house/car keys in the dog's bed a few times too... still - kitchen and bathrooms clean and strictly no food upstairs (laminate or tiled floors downstairs) and we'll survive. Blackrocksrock Posted April 18, 2009 Share Posted April 18, 2009 It is the bed I need to pull out and I know it will be very dusty bunny behind there - I will try and do it tomorrow!. Since the sun came out this afternoon I managed in a warm green house with warm compost and warm water in the watering can to prick out loads of plants into bigger pots etc. Makes a difference in the warm. LaPoule Posted April 18, 2009 Share Posted April 18, 2009 I have a work colleague who moans if the skirting isn't cleaned every week I have found one of the best reasons for keeping tidy(-ish) is my pets - anything left on a surface is knocked to the floor by Gershwin the cat (took a few broken bowls before we learnt not to leave anything out), any woolen clothes get chewed on by Bella the cat , and sundry clothing items (socks etc.) get stolen by the ferrets , and they also remove the insoles of all the shoes So everything has to out of sight - the insides of the cupboards on the other hand Unfortunately, to make up for helping me keep everything hidden away, in return they leave a film of fur on everything - there is even cat fur on office chair at work...
