My Ex-batts are home! Pics and Video to look at.

Recommended Posts

So sorry I've not posted all day  .

I've been so busy chook watching, and we've had so many visitors to see them. I've been itching to get on this forum and post piccies of my girls all evening but "Ooops, word censored!"ody would go home  .

I'm just uploading my photos to flickr at the moment so it shouldn't be too long now.

It has been a lovely day. The lady at Rushy Hill farm where we collected them from was so nice. The hens still hadn't arrived when I got there so her and her grandaughter showed me all their hens, cockerels and geese. She even gave me 4 huge  goose eggs to take home with me.

The van pulled up about ten minutes later and our girls got lifted out and put in the barn. We gave them 10 minutes to chill and then I went in to choose my girls. I just let fate decide and chose the first 4 I could catch.

I took them home and they stank the car out :lol: . As soon as I got home Shaun helped me spray them with xeno 200 and put leg rings on and then they got to explore their run. It did not take them long to become nosy and have a look around.

Can't wait to share the pics with you. Just waiting for flickr and then i'll bore you all to tears with ex-batt photos.

Beautiful. Lovely to see them exploring their new world. When mine first came they didn'treally do anything for a good day. They just sat looking, amazed. Then they just ate and seemed to do nothing but eat.

Hope they smell better soon, it shouldn't take long now they've got fresh air and good food. COngratulations. And well done for giving them a good home

:lol: I'll try one more time to get through the netting........ Never mind.

They sure are cute. :D What beautiful names.

I know  , she just doesn't get does she  . bless. Thanks for the compliment about the names, they seem to suit them already after just 1 day.

Lovely girls :D

I like the commentary  and the correct use of the Omleteer word " numpty"

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Isn't it awful hearing your own voice, I'm sure I don't sound like that :liar::whistle::lol: .

They have all come out this morning, they were gobbing off at my other girls though as soon as they came out into the run and started a riot :roll: . It really made me laugh. You could blow them away with a puff of air, but what attitude they've got  . They immediately ignored the food and started eating the grass again. Bless them, I'm going to be moving that eglu every day at this rate  .

No eggs yet, but I have no idea if that's because of the shock of yesterday or if they are finished, or about to moult or anything. I'll just sit back and watch. I've told them they never have to lay again if they don't want to  , just chill out and enjoy the sunshine.

They are lovely :D

The video with the netting was funny, I did feel sorry for the chicken in the corner nearest the camera - it just didn't seem to understand that it could turn around awwww! I guess it didn't DO much turning around before yesterday poor thing

They seem surprisingly confident which is lovely :D

Jules - I told my dog groomer on the phone this morning that my appointment time was 'bob on' it just kind of slipped out! - I think that might be another 'correct' Omleteer phrase before long

It was funny when you were calling her 'dolally daisy'

I think that name is going to stick  , either that or Crazy Daisy. She even feels the need to eat with one of her feet up on the grub  .

When my new boss started I needed to sign some paperwork for him but he was busy so I said "It's ok I'll just "Bob in" as I'm passing later" . He had no idea what I meant and I had to explain that it meant the same as "Pop in, etc.". He now uses the expression all the time and is really proud of himself  .

Just to keep you all updated. The girls are continuing to settle in very well.

Poo wise, they have been really messy for the first few days  , but that seems to have calmed down now.

They are laying 2 normal eggs, and one water balloon softie each day. I am not sure what is being layed by whom, but I'm pretty sure the softies are being layed by Daisy as she keeps hunching up for a while each day.

I've got some zolcal d on fasf order to put in the water to help her out, poor love :( .

They are getting more energy and taking less naps during the day, so tomorrow, fingers crossed, I think I will let them out into a big omlet fenced area to play while I clean out the eglu and move it to a new patch of grass :D .

I'll take some more photos, as to me their combs look redder already.
