Christian
Popped into Town today and visited another fabric shop Made 3 cushions for the lounge and am really chuffed with the results. My first ever cushion! The chimney breast wall is in dark red with an off cream/light coffee sofa. Need to make a new throw now!

Mrs Frugal
Oh dear, I can sense an addiction coming on, Christian! Now you've hit the slippery slope of fabric buying, sewing and making, there really is no hope for you. You'll not get through the front door for cushions now, you know . Been there, done that and made a T-shirt from some remnants I couldn't resist . Love the cushion . Looks fab!!

Christian
Pattern?? Was I supposed to? I measured the cushion, adding a couple of cms for a hem and started sewing Not too much swearing, but the table, floor, chair and me were covered in thread by the end of it! freddie
lovely cushion, well done you! next is bedlinen, and curtains,....... its all squares and rectangles....... The secret is to go to Primark or the like and to buy the cushion whole, and make a cover to go over what you just bought, it's so much more thrifty than buying a cushion pad!! Bet Kirsty would approve, if she could bring herself to go into such a lowly shop!! (sorry, I really am not keen on her)

Cooks
Christian how did you close your cushions??? I am going to make some with some material I got from freecycle for my settee and I am no good with zips, so I thought about an envelope type with large decorative button? you think that'd work?
Chook n Boo Mum
CM, I made mine with envelope/pillowcase closings so they simply overlap & didn't need any fastenings - too much temptation for a small hairy creature I thought! As it was she decided to chew the corners Sha x
Christian
CM, the first 2 I made have a flap like an envelope, but I still haven't found the 'right' buttons for them, so I have folded the flap inside for now. The 3rd one I made was like this - So you put one end of the cushion in and then tuck the other side in, if that makes sense? Looks much neater. You could stitch it all the way round, but I didn't as OH is renowned for dropping/spilling on cushions edit - cross posted with Sha, just as she says, they overlap
Cooks
Thanks Sha and Christian I will get cracking when I have a few mins/hours free to do it. I will come back to you if I am stuck..lololol Christian my hubby and children spill stuff on cushions as well!!
