Space Chick
Just got back from attempt two IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was the best film I have seen for ages and the casting was brilliant really enjoyed it. Don't think you have to be a trekie to enjoy it even though I am I've just got back from watching it, and thought it was absolutely FANTASTIC! Some of the men were rather tasty too! Spock or Jim could beam me up any time they like
bluekarin
I watched this today with my OH and our kids and we all thought it was absolutely brilliant! Excellent acting; really got the essence of the original characters I thought. Amazing effects and camera work too. Best ST film by a long shot. I won't say any more as some peeps on here haven't seen it.
Chickvic
I can't wait to see it! May not be for a while yet
Seagazer
I think we will try and see it next week, I used my womanly wiles to make OH think it was his idea to go and see it Saw Wolverine yesterday. My oh my Hugh Jackman is in good shape The film was ok....
WitchHazel
Went to see this last night, it was EXCELLENT! We rarely bother to go to the cinema now, as there were so many films where I cam out thinking the film was OK, but not worth the £15 it had cost us to go and see it (ie, should've waited to rent it on DVD). This one, we actually paid extra to go to an adult only screening, and now I wish I'd gone to the Imax to see it as we'd originally planned. I loved the original series, much more than the later incarnations. I wasn't sure whether they could pull this off but then I saw a cast photo and could tell immediately who was playing who. That gave me good vibes to start with. The casting is spot on. I think the guy playing McCoy has got deForrest Kelley's mannerisms and voice down to a tee, excelllent acting. I didn't realise he was in LotR - I have to go against the crowd here and say I really liked him dark and clean! I loved the fact that all the main characters had a chance to shine, that Sulu got to show off his fencing skills... and SImon Pegg was brilliant as Scottie. And I like the references whicch tied things back into the original series/films of thr original series really well. The chap playing Chritopher Pike was SO much like an older version of the original actor wondered if it was the same chap. I really really really hope this is a box office success and that tey make more films,. Or even return ito a TV format. Phew. Need to go and lie down I think. Cinnamon
Saw Wolverine yesterday. My oh my Hugh Jackman is in good shape The film was ok.... Now you see,I don't like him at all. I think his neck is too thick for his head (or his head is too small for his neck!)
Seagazer
I agree with you about the head to neck ratio but the rest of him is fine
The Dogmother
Saw the Star Trek film on Saturday ngiht - absolutely brilliant! I normally fidget all through a film ,but was so rivetted that I didn't even get uncomfortable.
Valkyrie
Were there any Tribbles? Just not the complete Trek if there isn't any trouble with Tribbles.
Space Chick
Were there any Tribbles? Just not the complete Trek if there isn't any trouble with Tribbles. That sounds like a tongue twister - trouble with tribbles. As this was a prequel to the original series I don't think the federation had found tribbles, also no klingons either. BarbaraJ
One of the things i loved was the Bridge had the same noises as the old programme with the doors and computers all making the same whooshing and beeping lol
millymollymandy
Feeling smug alert!! Wrote a snotty email compaining that I walked out of Star Trek because of the awful sound and got a reply today saying they had credited mine and my OH accout with a months membership each I don't complain much but hought it was justified and and it does feel good to vent

Seagazer
It was good wasn't it Cinnamon. I was going to post on Monday night. We saw it in the afternoon. Went with OH and YS (they're not particularly into Star Trek) but they really enjoyed it too. We said there was a good mix of laughs and action (although I thought some of the fight scenes were too blurry - often happens nowadays). We will definitely get it on dvd and I'm hoping they will do some more. I thought the chap playing Kirk looked really like the chap playing his dad (Kim from Home & Away ). Best Star Trek film I've seen
WitchHazel
I read that the actors were all contracted for two (more) sequels, should this first one prove successful. And it has been successful, so I can't wait for the next two!
