Ebay - what would you do?

Recommended Posts

Bought some poultry oystershell grit on Ebay on 23rd April. It's never arrived and I've not had a single email from the seller even after the sale. I've emailed twice this week but had no response.

A couple of people have bought the same item after me and have received it and got positive feedback. She's not left me any. I'm the 3rd person to leave negative feedback in the last week.

She did have negative feedback a while back which she explained by being in hospital. I'm wondering if this has happened again.

It's only £3.20. Would you bother following it up? I'm inclined not to but I'm annoyed that others have received items (and feedback) since my transaction and I've had nothing :? .

Edited to correct date  .

I would definitely follow it up. You have paid for goods and not received them.

It may be that she is ill, and I dare say that if this is the case, she will sort the matter out and apologise, when she is able.....and give you glowing feedbackbut if not, others need to be alerted.

I would follow it up. It may be "only" £3.20 to you but how many people does she do it to?

If she has been in hospital she (or her deputy) has still been able to service later orders so should have been able to do yours. I suspect your order has just been "lost down the back of the sofa" rather than being deliberately ignored, though.

I would email again... she could at least reply to that. If you get no response, there are various disputes you can raise (e.g. Item Not Received) and that should get her attention or your money back.

BTW, having just reread your post, I think you are a little impatient expecting to receive something you ordered in 2 weeks time.

Oops  . I'll edit that  .

It made me laugh, anyway. :D

Now they'll all wonder what we were talking about. :?

Follow it up,100%

Go through Paypal (if that is how you paid), its really simple to do. You will get a credit to your account in a couple of weeks time.

It only takes a few people to let little things go,to keep a potentially bad seller on the site, so by claiming your refund & leaving the correct feedback you are helping others to make a more informed choice about who they deal with :D

If other people have received their items since your order I very much doubt there is a dodgy reason for your non delivery so try and email again, if you don't get a response leave a very polite feedback saying you did try to contact, hopefully that will reolve the situation

As I always say the money is better off in my pocket than theirs so don't let it go

Still no response so I've requested her details from Ebay and called the number. A bloke answered saying I had the wrong number. He was a bit vague, saying he'd recently got a new number so I called him again to make sure I hadn't mis-dialled. I hadn't.

I'm going to report her to Ebay for this and for non-delivery of goods.

Oh, and someone else has left her glowing feedback on 15 May for the same item  . So she's obviously not "in hospital" .

Definately open a dispute and send her a polite email telling her that as you have not received goods nor any communication from her you will be opening a dispute.

Have had to do this on occasions and sometimes the goods suddenly are then dispatched!

By emailing her, Ebay can see that you have attempted to be reasonable, although you shouldn't have any problem through paypal.

Does this mean that you can't leave feedback? Crafty way of keeping her feedback score positive despite providing poor service, maybe?

If this is the case maybe you should alert Ebay of what's happened? She may be using this as a "get out" clause when people are let down?

No, luckily I'd already left negative feedback (along with 3 others  ). Strangely there are two glowing positive feedbacks in between :? .

She's not left me feedback which is fine. There was also an Ebay note saying a "An Unpaid Item case has been opened for this item" (darn cheek  ) but when I clicked on the link it said the case was closed.

I'm just glad it was such a paltry ( ) sum or it might have been more worrying.

At least you were able to leave a negative feedback to alert potential buyers. Seems strange she's posted some stuff out, but there's always the possibility that it's from a fake account (set up by the seller or someone related) to try to improve her feedbacks?

It's a strange place, Ebay! I personally avoid it just because I'm an untrusting soul  and of the 4 things I have bought from there, 2 have "gone missing in the post" and another one was sent in a completely different size from advertised... to which the "customer services" lady tried to tell me it was my fault for misreading their measurements  . She only agreed to replace it at their cost when I offered to email both herself and Ebay with a copy of the original webpage

I think I've been unlucky as I have friends who get loads of stuff from there but it's really put me off... it's not worth my time sorting out the hassle :)

When a Seller or Buyer wants to cancel the transaction, they have to open an "unpaid item dispute", even if the item is paid for. That's just Ebay's name for the process. When you open a dispute, you get to select from a list what the reason is. Assuming you both mutually agree to cancel the transaction, the Seller will get the Final value fee refunded. It is still possible to leave feedback after a transaction has been cancelled.

With the feedbacks in between yours: are you sure it's on sales that happened at the same time as yours? It could be just tat the buyers were very tardy leaving their feedback. The date is the date the feedback was left, not the date of the transaction.
