feemcg
Day 20 and I have 3 eggs pipped . I have 9 Salmon Faverolles, 3 Lavendar Araucanas and 4 Mottled Pekins eggs (none of my Shetlands were fertile ). On another sad note from my last hatch I thought I had 4 boys and 2 girls, giving me my long awaited Splash Maran.....the boys had huge combs and wattles from 2 weeks, now Connie, at 7 weeks, has decided to grow hers , so looks like another Marans hatch with no Splash (I think I'll just buy one ). It also gives me the dilemma of introducing the one Blue Maran, I've only ever introduced 2-4 chicks Edited May 14, 2009 by Guest

Griffin
I met a very nice Salmon Faverolle at the Domestic Fowl Trust so I'm looking forward to pics of yours Shame about the Shetlands and the lack of female Splash Definitely buy a Splash girlie because that'll help with introductions! feemcg
Another Pekin just popped out of an egg that was barely pipped last time I looked . I'll manage to sleep, after 10 or so hatches I'm past staying up all night.....spent the 1st few on a big cushion with a blanket round me . Plenty pics tomorrow when I put them in the brooder
feemcg
2 pekins and 6 Favs out when I got up this morning. Now in brooder and a few more in incy pipped. One of the Favs has badly curled toes, worst I've seen....was going to cull it straight away but decided to give it a go and it's now tottering around with cardboard shoes, objecting very loudly.....fingers crossed. I had to make similar shoes for Claudia. She soon got used to them and they did their trick and could be abandoned after about 5 days. feemcg
Huge Salmon Faverolles, tiny Mottled pekins and Lavendar Araucanas (still one of each in incy too). Never had chicks with 5 toes before.....they freak me out a bit Tiny! Why am I the only one that has to wear shoes?
sgregson
Oh my goodness Fee, they're beautiful Pardon my ignorance, but why does one of them need shoes? She hasn't started a shoe fettish already, has she?! Sal

feemcg
Sal, it has badly curled toes so I've strapped them flat to a piece of card. I've done this before.....once it worked, the other time it didn't, so we'll have to wait and see.
