Jules.
Bought some new school shirts for DS1 yesterday. Why do they always come packaged with those silly plastic clips & neck button bit, plus all the stiff card & tissue? There's no need for all this- it's not even like there is a need to keep the shirt looking smooth & uncreased in the bag it comes in, as shirts always need washing first before wearing to get rid of the funny new cotton smell. bluekarin
Excess packaging it one of my pet hates I am forever saying to the till staff in Sainsbury no, I don't need my broccoli in a plastic bag. No honestly, I don't. Or my garlic. The layers you get in clothing, especially shirts. Its the same with toys, especially things like Barbies etc with all the plastic, ties, sewn in bits. Manufacturers take note. Stop excess packaging Now!
Cinnamon
Shirts are the worse. And there is always a pin you don't find until you are putting it on
Mrs Frugal
Back to school time drives me mad with all the removing of pins, clips, plastic bits, tissue paper, cardboard for 12 new cotton shirts. There is no need for it at all, I agree Jules, wholeheartedly! We buy blouses, tops etc from shops and they are just on hangers and popped into shopping/carrier bags. Why do manufacturers insist on wrapping shirts so infuriatingly well?
Ain't Nobody Here
I ordered this which arrived yesterday ..... (shoe is for size comparison ) ..... inside this ...... WHY . The thing was in a box to begin with .
sarah-w
Ohhh I could rant forever about this!! With 2 girls we have our fair share of barbie type things bought at birthday/christmas and it honestly must take half an hour to get each thing out of its box!! This year I saved up all the plastic ties from the boxes and I'm using them in the allotment
Tessa the Duchess
as shirts always need washing first before wearing to get rid of the funny new cotton smell. I quite like the new cotton smell The packaging that drives me insane is that really hard see through plastic that almost everything, apart from clothing, seems to come packaged in. It is lethal, the only way to get into it is to cut it with really sharp scissors, the plastic is soooo sharp you could take a finger off whilst removing it Tessa
Guest
This one is my bugbear. Hair serum which is in a HARD plastic bottle which could easily be sold loos but is in one of those hard bits of moulded plastic and ALSO a cardboard outer!! http://www.superdrug.com/invt/360953
bluekarin
I ordered this which arrived yesterday ..... (shoe is for size comparison ) ..... inside this ...... WHY . The thing was in a box to begin with . You think thats bad! My YD bought a Mickey Mouse MP3 player from John Lewis. The player was a small box about a 5" cube. It came in a box the size you showed!!! I wish I took a pic now as i couldn't believe how mad that was. Penguinmad; I use that one and the packaging drives me bonkers! I've thought about writing to them suggesting they change how it's dispensed (the Tresemme one has an ingenious way o dispensing, no waste) and about reducing the packaging. There is just no need for the cardboard and the plastic. The bottle alone would be totally fine.
emily95
I hate excess packaging too, and so does my mum Whenever we go to the supermarket, at the tills she takes everything out of the plastic it doesnt need and puts it in their bins. But she always makes a big thing of it, and hopes one day they'll notice. So far, they haven't. Grr Emily xxx
Egluntyne
One of my pet hates too. We have a paper recycling bin but thick card isn't supposed to be put in it. I particularly dislike those little curly packaging things that look like quavers too. They spill everywhere and the feel of them makes me cringe. Minnie the Moocher
In our area we cannot recycle yoghurt pots and cereal boxes. Why??!!! We are currently sending them to school for DT. Not sure what they are making though.
