Sewing box/basket?

Recommended Posts

Ajuff I use one of those sets of plastic drawers on wheels - much more practical than a traditional sewing box, more modern, (and I can hide much more in it  )

Similar to this (mine is wider so my sewing machine sits on top of it and it has some smaller drawers at the top with boxes inside for bits and bobs)

OH bought one for me at Christmas years ago. It came from John Lewis, is a sort of padded box with red teddy bear fabric on the outside. Not grannyish at all. At the moment my old teddies are sitting on top of it because I now have a huge sewing station downstairs and my patchwork equipment has taken over another cupboard - actually it's a right old mess.

I started off with a Mothercare Baby Box - circa 1972 - after I no longer needed it for my children and I still have that with all the general, everyday, stuff in it. I also have the same sort of drawer unit as Snowy to keep more bits and pieces in.

I have a room

It has a chest of drawers filled with my stuff, an entire divan base filled with fabric and a wardrobe with everything that doesn't fit in either place. And I have a fabric stash under my bed. Must consolidate when I move.

Watch your stashes of fabric under beds etc as I have just had a moth scare but caught it I hope just in time before the dreaded grubs got my clothes - result was all our clothes from the wardrobe washed and ironed and hanging in the spare room at the moment as scared to put them back for a week!!! Also affects under bed storage so make sure you have suitable moth repellent under the bed.
