new allotment

Recommended Posts

hi all

i took receipt of my new allotment this last week, its abolutely massive, it is a new development in the village of a previous agricultural tie land, the farmer came and rotivated it with a tractor, and we have our section which is great. i have spent about 6 hours the last couple of days preparing the soil, planting out.

i have done so far,

2 beds of onions, 3 rows of potatoes (different varieties), french beans, cabbage, cauli, brussels - i have yet to plant leeks when ready, carrots, parsnips, mange tout and sugar snaps, leaving a little left over for some strawberries.

at the bottom of the old paddock, there is a spare bit of land (quite a bit really) - i have been told that i can use this if required to raise anything - so my thought was either get a couple of pigs, or raise table birds?, my neighbour is willing to share this side, and he has loads of previous farming experience - still undecided. but yet so excited.
