Grrr Washing Machines

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help please?

I have a baumatic washing machine, it's only three years old but everytime it's on the final rinse it trips all of the elctricity.

It sounds like someones running a large drill in the kitchen too.

I am assuming it's on it's way out.

Can anyone recommend a decent waching machine that will last more than 3 years please?

Thanks for any advice.

Miele is brilliant. They are expensive, but they last forever. We bought the entry price range one - Novotronic W828, 9 years ago. I think it was about £5-600, but we've never had anything go wrong with it.

It's straightforward to use too.

My mother-in-law's had her Miele for about 20 years or so now.

Hope this helps.

We have a Bosch washing machine, really pleased with how it works and no breakdown problems but the switches/k"Ooops, word censored!"s broke very early on :( Not sure how long we have had it though, somewhere between 6 and 10 years

I have a John Lewis own brand one & its been great.

PLUS it comes with a 3 year guarantee for no extra cost, which was a big selling point for me 8)

I would really recommend it for a good mid price machine (much as I would love a Miele, they are very expensive)

Snap! :D Entry level Miele here too, its fantastic, really quiet :D

Snap again! I found a washing machine repair man's website where he advised on washing machines based on his 20+ years experience of fixing them. He says to get a Miele if you possibly can and an entry level one at that as the build quality is the same on entry level machines as on the all singing, all dancing machines. He says if you can't afford a Miele, get a Bosch. All the other makes are designed to have a 5 year life and are usually too expensive to repair.

I have an LG - extra large Drum and direct drive - its 6 or 7 years old and can be on two or three times a day.......... lots of us! I've never had a problem with it.

My tumble dryer packed up a while ago and the repair man swore by Bosch.......and he was right. I'm soooooo pleased with my Bosch - its really quiet too :shh:

Thanks for all your help. :D

I will sit down with OH and work out how much we have to spend on one. We right in the middle of doing the bathroom so I hope it will last another couple of weeks so we will know how much money we have. :?

Don't really fancy doing trips to my mother or MIL to do the washing.

Do you not have anyone who will come and look at it for no fee and tell you if it's worth repairing. Perhaps I'm lucky in that there is an independant man who does that around here and also a local shop.

I have a Bosch which is around 8 or 9 years old. It has needed new brushes a few times and also a pump but was still worth repairing. My man says either Bosch or Miele.

Another entry level Miele person here :D Mine is 6 years old and used 3 times most days (I'm a bit obsessed with washing  ) Never a problem.

We were advised to get one by a repair man who said that we should even with our usage get 15-20 years out of it. So far so good. My previous Zanussi machine started dying after 6 months and three repairs later I gave up and bought the Miele.
