We don't want to go clubbin cos everyone does that and we like to think were a lil different to everyone else lol so i thought i'd ask all you lovely omleteers who always seem to have fab ideas about everything. Some of the things we thought of were hiring a canel boat for the weekend but you've got to be 21 for that booooo! Another one was Zorbing but its quite expensive at £45 each and as were students were broke. So does anyone know what would be quirky and cheap? I'd like to do that, but my birthday's in December. Can't remember my 19th birthday but pretty sure I wouldn't have gone clubbing. Or a weekend camping? You need the gear first though. Alton towers or chessington or drayton mannor (If uoi look around the shops and internet have a lot of buy 1 get 1 free vouchers) you go dressed in the same colour or wear matching wigs I know you can't hire a boat for the weekend but a lot f marinas hire them out for a day or a few hours I don;t know where you are but you can get a private hire tour boat at chester which if you fill it is not too expensive I am sure there are similar things around the country I will keep thinking.... Get together, drive to a beach or something & have fish & chips on the sand,wear kiss me quick hats & roll uo your trousers for a paddle.You could eveb ride the donkeys too. If thats too far for travel then have a picnc in a park with a difference.Make it a 70's theme, get some Blue Nun, a Black forest gateau,& cheese & pineapple on sticks, all dress up too. It was really good fun as all the audience (apart from us!) had obviously seen it hundreds of times and joined in with alot of the dialogue. I would suggest one of the following: 1) Day out at a theme park - as someone already said, there are loads of buy one get one free tickets around 2) Go Karting (not sure how much this is) 3) If you live anywhere near a river, hire a boat for a few hrs, as already suggested 4) Bowling (they usually do deals for group party bookings) 5) Laserquest 6) Get hold of a good DVD and have a pyjama party with popcorn etc. Fluffy socks mandatory! 7) Day out in london - there are loads of places you can go for free, eg science museum, feeding the pigeons in trafalgar square & you can easily find out fun stuff to do from the internet. Quirky places like Carnaby St or Covent Gardens often have musicians performing outside and theres always loads going on. fluffyfeet Posted May 27, 2009 Share Posted May 27, 2009 Up until I had my son at 36, me and OH would go to Alton Towers for my birthday and try and recapture a bit of our youth - neither of our parents could afford theme parks etc when we were kids, plus the rides are incredible these days. PapaJuliet Posted May 27, 2009 Share Posted May 27, 2009 That weekend (4th & 5th July) is the Dunlop Great and British Festival. Proper close motor racing, mostly British cars... I can't find proper details on the Dunlop web-site but there are (usually) proper Minis, BMW Minis, Radicals (open sports cars), Caterham types etc. The best thing about this type of motor racing is that one make series tend to have closer racing because the cars are all the same plus Minis and Caterhams have the aerodynamics of a brick so they can get really close and overtake!!! You may also be able to camp there and make a weekend of it. Alternatively, that is also the weekend of the World Series by Renault for which you should be able to get free tickets. I ask because on my 19th (many many many years ago) my friends and I did a scavanger hunt all around town. We had a group of eight which we split up into two teams of 4 and rented two limos... each team was supplied with a polaroid camera and a list of tasks to complete....The list can include as many or as few wacky tasks to complete...the two groups meet at a restaurant at a specific time to enjoy a nice dinner and to compare pictures.
