I need your help guys! Ian is applying for a job at a Pet store. This is one of the questions would you believe! I think it's quite fun actually.

 

The position is managerial so I suggested 'Border Collie' because they are active, always willing to work hard, intelligent, quick thinking, always want to learn new things, have enquiring minds, and...

Their intelligence is second to none and their minds are like sponges, absorbing all new tasks with an eagerness and the greatest desire to please.

I thought he could expand on that to tie in with the qualities needed by a manager, I did mention being good at keeping sheep in check too (joke!)

What about a queen bee or something - dont know anything about them but aure there must be somethign in there about busy as a bee and working in a team as well as on your own etc.

How about a labrador - steady, reliable, easy to train, hardworking. Not to mention the facial expressions ( I know I have been 'owned' by two labs over the years).

Labrador it has to be for me - Steady, reliable, intelligent, loyal, fun loving, quiet, easily trained and most of all in a crisis "bomb Proof"

nice to see you're not letting personal preferences get in the way I actually think that 'bomb proof' would have been an excellent parallel to draw but he's just informed me that he's sent it off

A border collie's training enables it to control the sheep in a respectful, controlled manner while ensuring that the task is completed in a timely fashion. Border Collies are, as a rule, very friendly and approachable and not to mention a very handsome looking breed also!

I wouldn't mind being a cat; free to roam and do whatever they please, they get to choose when they get a bit of affection, they can sleep when they want to and are very independent.

 

Funny how I prefer birds though fragile, highly strung, flighty and nervous!

I'd LIKE to be a cheetah because they are so sleek, fast and gorgeous. Sadly, I'm more like a sea cucumber!!

A giraffe maybe - calm & gentle, stunning to look at & oh so tall. You could be so nosey as you'd be able to see for miles.

Or a fox, so I could tell all the other foxes to turn vegetarian!

How strange. This same question was one I used to put when I was interviewing.

It was interesting to see how inventive people were.

I once gave a job to somebody who said they would be a dinosaur and they were very good.

Personally I would like to be a cat with owners like me - who open the house at 2 am to let me in or out and feed me when I want and what I want and sleep where on the bed I want and demand and get WHAT I WANT - I am a spoilt bengal cat.

.....but I've always wanted to be a seagull. I'd love to be able to fly and swim. And look after myself eg pooing on people's heads if they upset me. Ooh and eat chips every day. I'm getting quite into this now!

I love seagulls!!!!!! I love the way they can catch food in mid flight! When I was little we used to chuck bread up in the air, on the beach, and I thought they were so clever the way they caught it

 

My dad used to tell me they were the souls of old sailors and he'd point up and say "there's my dad" (his dad was in the merchant navy).

 

Seagulls (and the sea) mean a lot to me and every time I wear my seagull brooch (which I LOVE), I think of my dad.

I think i'd like to be a dolphin as they seem to have a lot of fun. If a pet, it would have to be a cat, i'm constantly of their continual sleep and their big long stretches.

I love sloths. I have a cuddly one with velcro on its paws so he can hang around my neck. He's great for a cuddle when you need cheering up.

I like the 'souls of old sailors' image for seagulls, I'll always think of that now when I hear them mewing on stormy days. Have you read Jonathan Livingstone Seagull? I love that book, and the power of positive thinking.

 

Maybe it would be good to try out a variety of animals, as there are so many to chose from! Bet dolphins would be fun, helly welly. (And a moomin would be good, too )

I have When I was about 13/14 years old, we had to do something called 'The English Speaking Board Exam' no idea if it still exists. Part of it was to read a passage from a book and I chose JLS I also had to read a poem ( I chose 'You are odl father william')and give a presentation on a chosen subject (my friends dad worked in saudi so she gave me a sand rose and the full Burka that the arab women wear. I had my friend dress up in it while I talked about it). I was the only one in my class to get a distinction

 

Anyway.............went a bit off topic there!

sorry Ian didn't get an interview - there will be something FAR more suitable jst around the corner - things happen for a reason.

 

I'd be a blue whale, gentle, graceful, swimming free in unimaginable depths of deep blue......

 

 

 

...... Mind you, pretty boring diet and not overly keen on the barnacle look.

 

Other than that some sort of eagle, flying high and free and wild. (and obviously free to poo on anyones head that annoyed me - very important consideration when choosing an animal likeness!)
