K-F-C
I have been waiting excitedly for my Cube and hens for over a month now... during this time a number of friends and family members have started buying me Egg Cups as little gifts! I now have 14! Does anyone else seem to get an abundance of chicken related gifts?! Edited July 13, 2009 by Guest
KarenW
That's funny! Quite sweet though - I haven't had any chicken-related pressies. I think if my mum was going to get me a chicken gift, it would be along the lines of flea powder or some other bug killer, since, as she stated knowledgably at the weekend, all chickens are covered in fleas and stuff, you know

Ms Tilytinkle
Hellooooo All Hmmm, you may need 14!! Once everyone tastes the delicious eggs they'll be round for soft boiled eggs every morning. I never have enough egg cups. Maybe they have a plan!! Bless, I was bought a matching plate, saucer & cup all with 2 chickens painted on it & as my dear friend thought I'd love them so much she bought me two sets one for me & one for hubby. Redwing - aw what a present, you obviously have a GSH Ms Tillyneedstobuyevenmoregrapesforworming

stoice
I try not to buy chickenalia as I KNOW I'll get it as a present eventually! For my recent birthday I got 4 more egg cups (From two different people), chicken coasters, chicken oven gloves, chicken ornament, chicken shaped wire basket and a bean plant you grow yourself by watering an egg that cracks open. (The bean has gone mouldy and not grown though. Rah) I'm not moaning, I love them all. But if I keep getting chicken related gifts for every xmas and birthday my house will soon be over-run! Henhathnofury
Groan. I have tea towels, egg cups, some awful pottery chicken....none of which I have bought. If any chicken cushions come into my house, then there will be mutiny. I collect chickens..the real flesh and blood cuddly feathery, pooing all over the garden kind. There is an endless supply of mostly rubbish that people can give...and they do! I like the practical idea of powders and lotions instead, even if it is a present given in disgust...because they all have fleas! Imagine giving that, with those comments, to a cat or dog owner! Ms Tilytinkle
Ah yes, I forgot about the tea towels & oven gloves & china egg tray & " In back garden collecting eggs" sign (which actually is quite handy to shove on front door) & wooden chicken ornament thingamajiggy. Bless. Henhathnofury - with you all the way - knowing one mans meat & anothers poison so the saying goes. .. but if all dearest friends love the chicken theme sooo much why don't they keep em!! Ha just wait til someone knits you a xmas jumper with hens on, then lets see how the "oOOh thats lovely thank you" copes !!! emmamakeup
I'd love to receive an egg holder - at the moment I'm using egg boxes which doesn't display them in all their glory. I'm sure I'll get some chicken related bits and bats at Christmas - am dreading my mother knitting me a chicken jumper though which is obviously going to happen - oh dear

Woodcat
hey i wouldn't mind people giving me chicken things if they would just give me different things. I had 6 copies of (i think it was called) 100 ways for a chicken to train it's owner last year. I can't say i'd like getting half a hundred weight of egg cups etc but atleast i wouldn't have to work out what to do with 6 copies of the same bloomin thing. I've also been given, last easter 8 choclate chickens(identical). I really think my friends need to start shopping in different places. Milly
Every time I look at something chickeny my husband warns me it will be the start of a slippery slope and people will keep on buying me chicken gifts. I suspect he's right (although he may just be trying to stop me buying anything.) But people have bought me one or two or four egg cups so far. Olly
Well I used to always get given presents with cats on. Tea towels, table mats, notebooks, cushions ... I've always liked cats, but for goodness sake! I don't think I am that difficult to buy presents for. In the last two years I've had a hen shopping-bag (cute, but too small to be useful), a hen plate which is actually rather nice, a totally useless egg-cup as it's far too large and just ONE on its own, and an egg-basket thingy which is pretty, but I really really want an egg-skelter and can't justify it while I've got this. On the other hand I also got a set of ORIGINAL chicken cigarette cards, which are gorgeous! What's the betting I get things decorated with bees this year ... Can't somebody just get me a book token or some chocolates?
