AJuff
This morning on day 21 there were four little white silkies. I rushed home at lunchtime and there were five. Back from work there are six!!!! So very beautiful. Mum Hermione is very content. I found it very interesting to come home and find two chick under the other sitting broody as they are both in the eglu together. Alice's eggs are due to hatch in two days time. Three of the chicks are yellow with pale feet and three are greyish with dark feet. Is this any indication of what sex they are? The Dogmother
What cuties! Silkies are notorious late to sex, so you'll need to be patient.

AJuff
My broody hatched the silkies for a friend of mine. She came over again today with her kids and named them; Feathers Fluffy Banana stripe Bubbles Sqidge ? The chicks are going with their mummy in the green eglu back to my friends house tonight. They'll be over to collect them later. They are so cute and have changed such a lot in the few days they've been here. I'll still see them when I go for coffee but it won't be the same as having them here. Bad news on Alice's eggs as two of them were half hatched today with blood all over them, the eyes weren't formed and they had died. Earlier they had cracks down the shell as if the shell was thin and they had been crushed. One of the last remaining two has the same cracking so perhaps that clutch of eggs may be unsuccessful. I don't hold out much hope.
