Karen & co.
Went to the hair dressers for a trim and my shoulder length hair is now just below my ears but I do like it, caught sight of my self in the hall mirror and did a double take! I just decided to let him do what he wanted, as I'm usually such a coward and have a trim Just wondered has anyone else thrown caution to the wind with their hair? karen x
Mrs Frugal
Yes, I do it regularly Karen. I went from mid-back length hair to a very short spiky cropped look (remember Daphne from Neighbours?) about 18 years ago and grow it back out again only to return to the same spiky crop a couple of years later. I'm growing it out at the moment but you can bet your boots in a few months I'll get so frustrated that I'll be back down the hairdressers again!! Guest
I regularly go for a couple of years with only trims, then go for a total image change. Then I spend 2 years whinging about getting it all cut off, and growing it again, before I remember how annoyed I get with long hair, and go for another image change. Fickle, that's me! The Dogmother
All the time Karen! In fact when I go to the hair dressers, Phil asks whether he will recognise me when I get back. I've been from an orange striped flat-top (for a dare but it stayed because I liked it) to waist length hair in my natural colour. I'm about to go this Saturday, so it may well be different again. The colour isn't natural anymore (a sort of deep red/brunette) as I'm mostly grey now

buffie
Well my best pal Chrissie is my hairdresser. I had it cut on monday and he told me I had to lose the curtains!! So I've lost my 'lady of a certain age' curtains and he also wants me to go curly more often (it's natural)..the hair that is. I can't get my hair very long, fine hair so lucky you I refuse to buy mags that sell diets etc so Chrissie is my fashion guru... he and Neil, his partner, always tell me what's in and out. I am very lucky. BBx
The Dogmother
My hairdresser is like that Buff, he panders to my (hair) whims, advises and we generally put the world to rights - I love it! Rosie loves it too, she sweeps up hair and makes hairstyles on one of the dolly model heads.
Cinnamon
I am growing my hair at the moment, after having 8 inches taken off a couple of years ago I have had it pink, orange & more natural colours.I had a mohawk when I met The Hubby These days its just curly & reddish blonde,& I am dithering whether to have some gold highlights or red lowlights,or both Decisions, decisions! Looney
I had mine cut earlier this week and actually managed to persuade the hairdresser that I REALLY did want at least two inches cutting off and I didn't want her to assume that I only meant half an inch (which is what usually happens!). I once had my hair all cropped off. A month later I had my passport photo taken for my first passport (age 16). I had to live with the embarrasment of showing my passport with the delightful photo of me sporting a flat, half grown out crop along with school shirt and tie until two years ago.....passport desk people just couldn't resist smirking (I look like a Colmbian drug smuggler in my current passport photo!!) Paola
My hair was down my back to about to about my bra strap until four weeks ago when I had it all cut off. It’s going shorter on Wednesday! I have tried to find a before and after picture but can only find an after pic. However in the background you can just see a family pic taken about a year ago. AnnieP
Wow! Paola! I wouldn't have recognised you! Great haricut. I'm too scared to have mine cut off.... its always been long. I keep threatening to do it for my 40th..... I remember once walking behind a woman with beautiful, straight long blonde hair, she was slim and well dressed. OH commented on her lovely hair, and we were horrified when she turned around to see that she was as ugly as sin, wrinkly, make up piled on at least an inch thick and must have been at least 60! I swore there and then that I would get rid of my long blonde hair before I got old....mutton dressed up as lamb etc.... Trouble is, as I get older, I keep putting back the age at which the term "old" applies!

The Dogmother
Lovely Paola Isn't it liberating when you have short hair - so much easier to look after? Does OH like it? Most men seem to prefer long hair for some reason - Phil used to like burying his face in mine when it was longer, and he sometimes did that in his sleep, so I couldn't turn over at night
theherd123
I so hate that too Clare - when my hair is trapped under Mo's head at night & i then turn over - what a wake up call Hair looks great Paola!!!
Paola
Thank you guys for your lovely comments I did really enjoy going for a complete change and so did my hairdresser! Yes Clare, it is so much easier to look after. It has not seen a brush in weeks! OH loves it. It was short when we married. I think it suits me better short. Makes me look younger. When it was long I never had time to do anything with it. The joys of having three children to look after My sister said if she had my hair (her hair is very fine) that she would rather get rid of the kids then the hair
The Dogmother
One of the reasons I had min elong was so that I could 'do so much more with it' - I never did though because it was too heavy and slippery to stay in any style. It took ages to dry too
red
Yes it suits you short Paola - BTW that's a lovely family portrait.

They said they would struggle to photograph Poppy as she is white Might take the chickens next time though
The Dogmother
A mate of mine does similar photos, and did some of us for free when she started out and wanted some photos for her portfolio. I've still got them on CD somewhere.
