AnnieP
The design hotel in Maastricht (la Bergeres) is great too: And you can hire a bowl of goldfish for the night for your room for e50. Here's OH in the room there.... Every room has a different picture in. We've stayed in 6 different ones but when we go now, we always request a "bum room"
chocchick
We stayed in an appartment off Charles' bridge which was cheap and meant we could come and go as we wanted. Was quite basic, but could sleep a large family. OH is not an early riser and doesn't comprehend room service

theherd123
Slight change of plan on the old Christmas present front! Decided not to go abroad - think it will be all a bit rushed and too much hassle to leave work, sort bears & chickens out and then fly off somewhere for only 3 days so..... have looked at some beautiful cottages in Cheddar, Somerset so hope to book there for 3 days and take the bears with us too! Bath isnt far away and we have always said we would visit there and we can drive to the coast & take the bears to the beach as well as on Exmoor. Guest
Dont think we will be climbing the Gorge but i will take some crackers You can't go to Cheddar Gorge and not climb it. Or at least, you have to have a decent excuse! You could try something similar to mine - daughter on crutches at the time and too young to be left on her own. (Except I WANTED to climb it - the views at the top were fantastic. OH took a camera. DS ran up and down Jacob's ladder several times and still wanted to do more! )
Hellcat
Bit late on to this one, but i am sending Ian for a day long hill walk with Llamas, as he loves them. But, its a secret so if you're reading this, darling, serves you right!! They carry the gear and the table, chairs and food for the picnic, how cool is that. You get your own llama or alpaca to lead for the day. Hopefully he'll love it and stop going on about having them so much...or not

kannie
Oooh! thanks for the Prague links Annie & Claret! Both look wonderful - just a little put off by the glass bathroom Annie! I like a little privacy!! Did you stay in the hotel or the apartments Claret? I do like the idea of an apartment....
Christian
Kannie have you thought about Warsaw? It is beautiful!!! Similar to Prague but not as touristy, its how Prague used to be years ago. Its one of my fav nightstops at work. Quite cheap to get there and very reasonable hotels/food etc. very cold in the winter, but a 'nice' cold.
