Joojo, your parachuting friend is very lucky and I think he is right to quit while he is ahead.

 

I had a similar parachuting accident 24 years ago on my very first static line jump from 2000 feet. My main chute failed by having a multiple lineover and I couldn't pull the reserve as I also blacked out due to spinning. The tangled main chute slowed me down a bit but I dropped like a stone and landed on the runway, breaking my back in 12 places. Luckily I had no spinal cord damage and I am fine now, but I wasn't going to put my gaurdian angel to the test again!
