chocchick
Now I don't know what the CV variety means. I just meant it was written like a CV, i.e. worded to sound good and all about achievements.
chocchick
I tend to write a standard letter and then try to adapt it for each person before printing it off. That sounds nice, or as Buffie says saying "we are well." Phil I can't imagine you writing a bad letter, and you're in a situation where you will have more distant friends. Printing off an A4 identical newsletter written in a boastful way (like I receive), just doesn't feel quite right somehow.
The Dogmother
I've never done a round robin, if people want to know, they'll ask. I have a blog this year, so will add the address to the bottom of my cards, they can look at it if they want.
chocchick
I could do that, but they would find out about my chickens mainly
Paola
Shona - you really have missed your vocation! I agree
One Man Banned
Shona - you really have missed your vocation! I agree I'll third that! - I've been rocking with laughter reading this thread! (good job I'm in the house alone for the moment!) As for whether I write a round robin, I have never sent one but use emails to keep in touch with people throughout the year but will ring those that I haven't spoken to in a while. My bestest friend I haven't spoken to for a few weeks now but I haven't seen her in a year - People that special actually get a visit from me at Christmas - despite the extra 1.5hrs drive when I get to Wales! AnnieP
Christian I do that too! I have a list (I like lists ) of people who I really would like to hear from and feel I should contact, and over Christmas, I work my way down the list every time I have a spare 1/2 hour. I find that ringing them is about catching up with them, and not about giving them "me, me, me". Of course, we get round to chatting about our news too, and its a two way thing! I love doing it, and Christmas is the perfect time to do it, as its great to just hear them answer the phone and to be able to say "Happy Christmas, I was thinking about you". ubereglu
Well christmas round robins are cheerier than the one that got sent around our school today. I shan't deviate more than it was about fights with another school and police. Hmmmmmmmmmm......

fourfinches
I've just written my Christmas letter and went to include some photos in it. Until I looked just now I hadn't realised how many photos I'd taken of the chickens - there's many more than of the children Mind you the boys are probably quite glad as they're going through that grumpy teenage "why do you want to take our photo..." Perhaps I should rename my letter as a Christmas round chicken! Morag
Mel (& Paul)
Well I sent SOME round robins - to relations / friends we cant see regularly. One chap who is in his 80s and lives too far away to visit left a lovely message on our answerphone so I think they are a good thing (although there did seem to be too much about our chickens.............)
